Kenneth Walker III returns to Richmond

While he prepares for the NFL draft, UCLA receiver Kenneth Walker III stopped by the Greater Richmond Interfaith Program last week to donate 13 pizzas and 100 toys, according to the Richmond Standard.

Walker, a graduate of Richmond’s Kennedy High, had 22 catches for 365 yards and four touchdowns this season.

Another Richmond product, Takkarist McKinley, has signed with Independent Sports and Entertainment, which also represents fellow Bay Area natives Marshawn Lynch and Marcus Peters.

Linebacker Jayon Brown, defensive end Takkarist McKinley and center Scott Quessenberry added AP first-team All-Pac-12 selections to their postseason award hauls on Friday.

UCLA’s pair of defensive stars were unanimous first-team selections.

The trio of players also earned All-Pac-12 first team honors as voted by the conference’s coaches while Brown and McKinley were also first-team all-conference selections by Pro Football Focus and ESPN.com.

Tight end Nate Iese was named to AP’s All-Pac-12 second team. Iese, who was voted second team All-Pac-12 by the coaches, was third on the team with 25 receptions and 400 receiving yards for four touchdowns in his first year at tight end.

Takkarist McKinley, Jayon Brown lead UCLA’s All-Pac-12 selections

Defensive end Takkarist McKinley and linebacker Jayon Brown were named first-team All-Pac-12 by Pro Football Focus and ESPN.com.

Defensive tackle Eddie Vanderdoes and linebacker Kenny Young were named to PFF’s All-Pac-12 second team.

McKinley and Brown were also in the running for SB Nation’s All-American team. The senior defensive end finished ninth in SB Nation’s voting for his position while Brown finished eighth among linebackers.

McKinley led the Bruins with 18 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. Brown led the conference in tackling (119) and had the first 100-tackle season for a UCLA player since Erik Kendricks in 2014. Vanderdoes, who declared for the NFL draft despite an extra year of eligibility, returned from ACL surgery to start 12 games for the Bruins this year, tallying 29 total tackles. Young was second on the team in tackling (90), tackles for loss (8.5) and sacks (5.0).

Despite only winning four games this year, UCLA landed six total players on All-Pac-12 teams on Tuesday, led by three on the all-conference first team and two offensive lineman who blocked for the second-worst rushing offense in the country.

Offensive lineman Scott Quessenberry was UCLA’s only offensive first-team member while defensive end Takkarist McKinley and linebacker Jayon Brown led the Bruins on defense.

Quessenberry returned this season after two shoulder surgeries to start every game at center. McKinley led the Bruins with 18 tackles for loss and 10 sacks in his senior season. Brown led the conference in tackling (119) and became the first Bruin since Erik Kendricks in 2014 to reach the 100-tackle mark.

Left tackle Conor McDermott and tight end Nate Iese were named to All-Pac-12 second team offense and linebacker Kenny Young made the second team cut on defense.

Receiver Darren Andrews, safeties Randall Goforth and Jaleel Wadood, cornerback Fabian Moreau and defensive lineman Eddie Vanderdoes earned honorable mention honors.

McKinley, McDermott to play in Reese’s Senior Bowl

Offensive lineman Conor McDermott and defensive end Takkarist McKinley accepted invitations to play in the 2017 Reese’s Senior Bowl on Monday.

The pair of Bruins will participate in the showcase event on Jan. 28, 2017.

McKinley had a strong season in his final year at UCLA, finishing with a team-leading 18 tackles and 10 sacks. He had a season-high five tackles for loss against Utah, but was held without one for the final two games of the year.

McDermott started every game at left tackle for the Bruins this season, one of only two offensive linemen to make it through the entire year.
