Every wonder what the past prep stars are during now?

The purpose of this blog is to give an update of what our former prep stars are doing now, either in college or in the professional ranks.

We will attempt to provide several updates per week. But the list is great, so if there is someone you think should be mentioned, just post a comment, and we will follow up on it.

  1. Walter Thurmond from West Covina just had a great sophmore season
playing for the Oregon Ducks in Pac Ten football, he had 4 picks and 2 fumble recoverys for the season, he returned one of those fumbles for a TD vs Michigan, and in the Bowl game vs S. Florida
he returned a pick for a TD. He also led the Ducks with 76 solo
tackles at the corner back position. and finished 1st or 2nd in the Pac Ten with 19 batted down passes. He also got College All American
Honerable Mention. This was his second year as a starter for the Ducks.

  2. 2005 Walnut High graduate, Conrad White, is now at Northern Arizona University at Flagstaff, AZ. Conrad started classes in January as a mid-year transfer from Fullerton College. Conrad was a two year starter at Fullerton. White continued his football success by being named to the Mission Conference Second Team as a Cornerback. He also had a key interception in the inaugural Orange County Bowl this past season in which Fullerton outscored Citrus College 34-24. Conrad had 11 breakups in his final season at Fullerton.

Continued success Conrad in the classroom and on the football field.

  3. INTHEKNOW,
I also remember Conrad White when he played against Walter Thurmond and the West Co. Bulldogs in 2004, both were good teams that year and both times the teams played each other that year they were great games that came down to the wire, especially that CIF semi final game, what a thriller that was. It would be nice to see Walnut get back to the caliber they were in those years.

  4. Katrina Rosales from La Mirada HS is a member of Hope International University Women’s Volleyball team. She was very instrumental in handing Cerritos High School their first and only lost in 2005 by giving them a season high, 8 blocks. Katrina was an All Suburban League member, LMHS MVP and Athlete of the Month, and was an Honorable Mention for Whittier All-Area Team. HIU is a member of a very competitive Golden State Conference and NAIA. She led HIU in blocks during her freshman year and finished 8th Overall in GSAC in blocks. She also finished 2nd as a freshman in blocks only behind a Fresno Pacific 6’3″ middle Keke Wang. She led her team again in blocks during the NCCAA National Championship were HIU finished in 3rd place. Her sophomore year was successful as well. She started off the season as a Right Side hitter, but was moved back to Middle to give the team more depth on defense. She again led the team in blocks and 4th in Kills. She will be entering her third year at HIU volleyball this fall.

  5. Laraine Fraijo from Western Christian High School is now in her second year as the Softball Assistant Coach at Augusta State University in Georgia. While there she is also working on her Masters in Family Counseling. After graduating from Western in 2002, Laraine went on to play Div 1 softball on a scholarship at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina, where she played for 4 years as one of the catchers. During her high school career she was the starting catcher for Western and during her high school career earned several awards. She also was in the top for her team in hitting with recording a batting average of 371(Junior year). In her last year at Western she received All CIF Honors; First Team All League Honors; Team MVP. She was also part of the Lady Lancers team who went to the CIF Finals in 2002, unfortunately losing to Pomona Catholic. She has hopes of continuing her coaching career, upon graduating from ASU, as a head softball coach at the collegiate level.

  6. Montebello High School Water Polo stand out Priscilla Orozco has taken her game to the highest level of College Water Polo in her Freshman year at UCLA playing for the undefeated and number 1 ranked team in the nation. Priscilla has played in all 21 games this year, has scored 18 goals and is among the team leaders in Assists and Field Goal percentage. The Bruins are on track to winning their 4th straight NCAA Championship and # 101 for UCLA if the Basketball team doesn’t win it in the next couple of weeks.
