Peter Quillin to defend middleweight title against Gabriel Rosado

Middleweight champion Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin of Brooklyn will attempt to make the second successful defense of his title when he takes on Gabriel Rosado of Philadelphia on Oct. 26 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City (on Showtime), Golden Boy Promotions announced.

They will tangle on the under card of the light heavyweight title fight between Bernard Hopkins and Karo Murat.

Quillin, 29-0 with 21 knockouts, really likes this matchup.

“Rosado is a quality challenger who always comes to fight, and because of our competitive styles the fans are going to get a great show on Oct. 26” he said.

Rosado, 21-6 with 13 knockouts, is stoked to be getting another shot at a major title. In his first, he was stopped in the seventh round by Gennady Golovkin in January at Madison Square Garden.

“I’ve never lost in New Jersey and I don’t plan on starting now,” Rosado said. “I’ve chased a world title for a long time and while I respect Quillin for giving me this new opportunity, I’m going to have to take that belt and bring it back to Philly.”
