CLIPPERS AT CAVALIERS
Tip-off: 5 p.m., Thursday
TV/Radio: TNT, KFWB 980AM
Update: The Clippers are coming off a devastating 102-100 loss Monday at Brooklyn, in which the Clippers led by nine points with 1:46 to play before being outscored 15-4 down the stretch. The Clippers (33-16) have to go from that, to taking on the Cavaliers on Thursday at Cleveland. The Cavaliers are the hottest team in the NBA as they have won 11 consecutive games. The second of those victories came Jan. 16 when the Cavs beat the Clippers 126-121 at Staples Center. … In the loss at Brooklyn, the Clippers once again showed their Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde personality. Up by nine over a team that entered 18-28 after a Matt Barnes basket, the Clippers appeared to be a lock to emerge victorious. Then, as quickly as a potion being consumed, the Clippers gave up 15 points in less than two minutes. Twelve of those points came on 3-point baskets. … Clippers shooting guard J.J. Redick is listed as questionable for this game as he is still struggling with back spasms that caused him to miss the Jan. 28 game at Utah and limited him to just four minutes against Brooklyn before leaving. … Small forward LeBron James is leading Cleveland (30-20) in scoring and assists with respective averages of 26.2 and 7.4. Point guard Kyrie Irving is averaging 21.9 points and 5.2 assists and power forward Kevin Love is averaging 16.9 points and a team-high 10.5 rebounds. Love is shooting 42.4 percent from the field, the second-worst of his career. … The Clippers are 2-2 on this eight-game Grammy road trip. After this one, they complete the roadie by playing Friday at Toronto, Sunday at Oklahoma City and Monday at Dallas.
