Clippers coach Doc Rivers told reporters before Monday’s 140-132 overtime victory over the Houston Rockets that he wasn’t sure how many minutes center DeAndre Jordan would play after he had missed the previous two games with pneumonia.

Rivers said he would use the “eye test” to determine his energy, or lack thereof. Well, Jordan played 41 minutes. Only teammate Chris Paul played more, going 41 1/2 minutes. Along the way, Jordan had 16 points, 15 rebounds and two blocks.

Not too shabby for a guy who had just recovered from such an illness.

“I was going to try to play (the last two games), but it was tough,” said Jordan, who had his streak of 360 consecutive games snapped. “I couldn’t stand up, so I knew I wouldn’t be very effective. It was pretty bad. I just wanted to play and be there for my team.”
