Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman said Wednesday that infielder Hector Olivera and pitcher Pablo Fernandez, whom the Dodgers signed last month, are still awaiting a visa that will allow them to come to the United States and take their physicals.
Friedman said that both players could take their physicals in the Dominican Republic, but “it’s not the same as having our guys put their hands on him.”
Olivera agreed to terms on a six-year, $62.5 million deal in March. The Dodgers agreed to terms with Fernandez on an $8 million minor-league contract.
