In a swap of minor league pitchers, the Dodgers acquired left-hander Grant Dayton from the Miami Marlins in exchange for left-hander Chris Reed on Wednesday. Neither player was on his team’s 40-man roster at the time of the trade.
Dayton was 2-1 with a 2.83 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 25 games for Triple-A New Orleans this season. The 27-year-old pitcher was selected by the Marlins in the 11th round of the 2010 first-year player draft.
Dayton will report to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Reed had been designated for assignment last Friday.
