The 18th Annual Pasadena Chalk Festival, the world’s largest street painting festival, will attract nearly 600 artists from across Southern California. These prominent artists will use 25,000 sticks of pastel chalk to create spectacular murals on the pavement encompassing two city blocks. Amazing works-of-art in every style imaginable from classical to contemporary and fantastic to socially relevant will be created and shown over the course of the weekend. The most outstanding murals, as selected by the participating artists of the 2010 festival, along with special awards, will be announced at the event’s conclusion.
The Pasadena Chalk Festival, a one-of-a-kind public art event will celebrate its 18th anniversary by attempting to establish the Guinness World Record for the Largest Display of Chalk Pavement, to authenticate its title as The World’s Largest Street Painting Festival.
The Chalk Festival attracts hundreds of artists and design teams from many regions of the country and virtually every Los Angeles-area community. Leading art schools, museums and cultural centers are also represented at the festival. The Pasadena Chalk Festival benefits the community arts programs of the Light Bringer Project, a Pasadena-based, non-profit arts organization founded by local residents who were interested in the role the arts, architecture and design played in the growth and development of their community.
