Cal Poly Pomona runner earns weekly CCAA honor

Senior Calene Morris of Cal Poly Pomona has been named California Collegiate Athletic Association Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for her showing at the Occidental College Distance Carnival.

The Torrance, Calif. native set a personal record in the 5,000-meter run finishing 11th out of 156 runners with a time of 17:03.53, earning an NCAA provisional mark. She moves into fourth of Cal Poly Pomona’s All-Time list in the event.

Morris has set two personal records already this season with the other one coming at the Rossi Relays back in February when she ran the 3,000-meter run in 10:10.41.

The Broncos return to the track this weekend as they compete at the University of the Redlands Invite.
