Kings forward Jarret Stoll talks about raising banners and his offseason hip surgery

Here’s what Kings forward Jarret Stoll had to say about the raising of the club’s first championship banner before the 2012-13 season and what it will be like when the second up goes up on Oct. 8: “We’re going to enjoy that for five minutes and then it’s a new season and we’ll drop the puck. It was really cool to just all be standing in a corner as a group, as a team that went through it all just to see it going up and see all the flashes in the crowd. The first banner in the history of the organization, in the city. It was was special.”

Here’s what he said about the offseason hip surgery that’s delayed his exhibition debut: “No reason to push it and be behind and not be able to start the season (on time). I anticipate starting the season. It’s a hip. You kind of need it to play hockey. We’re all on the same page, training staff and coaching staff.”

Here’s what he said about the number of exhibitions he might need to prepare for the start of the regular season next month: Three, maybe? Hopefully, for sure, the last two. Three would be nice, but at least two.”

Here’s what he said when asked about any previous hip trouble: “I knew something was wrong in the Chicago series (in the Western Conference finals). I couldn’t walk or anything. I don’t know when I did it. Some mornings I would be fine and it would be a pretty good day. Then I would get up from my pregame nap and I could hardly walk. There were a lot of particles and a labrum tear. You could play on it, but the wrap was tight.”
