Steve Nash unsure if he will play Friday against Phoenix

Lakers guard Steve Nash sounded hopeful he could play his former team, the Phoenix Suns, when they visit the Lakers Friday at Staples Center.

“I would love to play in that game,” Nash said. “The only thing I can do is follow Mother nature’s path.”

After Lakers doctor Steve Lombardo reexamined Nash on Friday, the Lakers penciled him out for at least another week. Nash, who already has missed five games, will sit out when the Lakers host the San Antonio Spurs Tuesday at Staples Center. Aside from occasional ball handling and shooting drills, Nash said his activity has stayed limited.

“The frustrating part is we’re full steam ahead,” Nash said. “But mother nature isn’t getting along.”
