Stockton 4, Reign 2.

The third period wasn’t the problem. The penalty-kill was.

Stockton scored on its first three power plays en route to a 4-2 win to cap a three-game weekend sweep of the Reign at CBBA.

Shawn Collymore scored both Reign goals, both on the power
play, both the result of persistence with pucks in the crease against
Garrett Zemlak. Zemlak, who started the season with the Reign, stopped
26 shots and even got into a fight late in the second period.

Mike Zacharias stopped 27 of 30 for the Reign. He was great at times, but let in a soft goal by Ryan Constant in the second period that proved to be the game-winner.

Another player who started the season in Ontario, Pierre-Andre Bureau, had an empty-net goal and two assists for the Thunder.

Shawn Germain missed the game to attend a firefighting class in Canada. Doug Krantz filled in on the blue line (and played fairly well). James McEwan also got back into the lineup and engaged in two highly entertaining fights.

Well, I guess the fact this team is content on just “Sneaking” into the playoffs says it all… rather than getting their butts in gear and playing descent/consistent hockey, they think the playoffs will change something!

Although they may have a point… because my bet is several hundred/thousand season ticket holders won’t be in their seats (why waste even more money)! So maybe playing in front of a couple hundred folks may change their minds.

I (for one) am so tired of the meaningless catch phrases from both the coaches & players on a team that has been in the basement the last 2 years.

When will all the talking STOP and the playing actually begin? The coach has been awful, the Kings no help, and we continue to get embarrassed each/every night.

J.P… any idea how long of a deal Justin & the Reign signed with CBBA?? Any chance of dumping the entire group and bringing in a competent franchise??

IE – I don’t know how long Justin & the Reign are signed on for, but consider …

1, AEG runs the building and owns the team. So the left hand would sort of have to fire the right hand there.

2, This summer AEG gave Justin the title of President, and Justin gave Taylor a one-year extension through 2012. So the left and right hands are probably still amicable.

3, I talked to Kings assistant GM Ron Hextall today about a couple of the topics you mentioned. Expect that story to run Friday!
