CNN, AP and NPR are reporting that Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, a Democratic congresswoman from Tucson, AZ, was shot in the head during a rally at a supermarket in Tucson Saturday morning.

There are conflicting reports as to whether the congresswoman is dead or fighting for her life in a Tucson hospital.

Giffords was just re-elected to her third term. She is 40 years old and was recently married to Mark Kelley, a former astronaut.
