Jim Mora rules out Isaako Savaiinaea, Devin Fuller vs. WSU

— Jim Mora ruled out linebackers Isaako Savaiinaea (ankle) and Josh Woods (hamstring), as well as receivers Devin Fuller (ankle) and Stephen Johnson III (undisclosed) for Saturday’s 7:51 p.m. kickoff against Washington State. Receiver Thomas Duarte has also missed most of practices this week with due to illness, and may be questionable to play.

— Mora talked about what UCLA will do to honor the military as part of its weeklong Veterans Day celebrations, as well as the Bruins’ Senior Night. The family of late receiver Nick Pasquale will be on the field at the beginning of halftime for what would have been his last home game.

— UCLA forced four turnovers against Oregon State last weekend, matching the team’s total for all of October. The Bruins have also notched nine of their 18 total sacks in the last three games.

“People always say, ‘Turnovers and sacks, they come in bunches,'” Mora said. “I don’t know if they really do, but if there’s a placebo effect, we’ll take it.”

— Mora talked about the improvement of both cornerback Johnny Johnson — who lost his first two seasons to shoulder surgeries — and defensive end Takkarist McKinley, who arrived at UCLA as a midseason transfer last fall.

— Mora ended the press availability on Thursday by implicitly commenting on the officiating of the Bruins’ 41-0 win in Corvallis last week: “We’ll have 11 guys on the field on both sides of the ball. … I guess Oregon State was allowed to have 12, but we’re not.”
