Safety Taylor Mays said he spoke to Ronnie Lott a couple weeks about the award that bears the former USC safety’s name.
“We talked about his trophy and getting involved in the community,” Mays said. “I told him I didn’t want to do community service for a trophy, I wanted to do it because it feels right to do.
“Ronnie Lott and that trophy woud be special to win and would help add to the legacy at USC. But I want to do it for the right reasons not for the wrong reasons.”
