Answer Tuesday! (Part 4)

In this segment, I criticize USC’s flawed logic in constantly scheduling games in Hawaii.

robey had a rough outing to say the least. logically, he was covering better receivers in practice than UH’s receivers – and their best WR was out. how do we reconcile his awful performance? he was out of position on nearly every play.

A: I’d only say he is a true freshman. On the other hand, the competition is supposed to always be open so maybe Torin Harris gets a longer look this week in practices.

Maybe this game should have never been scheduled. What did it accomplish other than a far away, expensive scrimmage game in a non-football type setting? There are no other foes quite like Hawaii on SC’s schedule. If this was to show the DB’s & LBs they have a lot of work to do, its a pretty extravagant way to show it…

A: I completely agree. I’m not really sure why USC is insistent on making so many trips to Hawaii unless athletic dept. personnel feel like they get a free vacation out of it.
You travel more than five hours by plane to a remote tropical environment for a game in a substandard stadium on horribly hard turf. On top of that you face an offense that does not really show what you’ve accomplished in training camp and is unlike what you will see in the other 12 games.
With all that said, USC returns to Hawaii in 2013.

  1. You’re kidding right?

Playing at Hawaii gives you an extra (bonus) game and a chance to let your fans/boosters go to Hawaii for a week. Not understanding the upside to this is mind boggling, even for you Scooter.

The only thing I’d say, is that it would be better to play at Hawaii near the end of the season, but since the weather in LA is never really bad (and ND & fucla are always at the end of the schedule) I guess it doesn’t really matter.

  2. Bet SW wouldn’t care if his “rag” paid for a couple of extra days over there. Not to mention nobody from SC “hangs” with him.

  3. Scotty must have been shunned from the rainbow pedo bear bar/club on this most recent trip to Oahu…. Que terrible…

  4. Segments are used in Television Wolfie. Your jargon is errant.

How does a second-rate sportswriter at a third-tier paper get off telling USC that their logic is flawed?
