YUCAIPA 10, REDLANDS EAST VALLEY 8 >> The Thunderbirds (16-2) clinched the Citrus Belt League title following a league victory over the Wildcats. Heather Graf and Hannah Stevenson won all three of their matches.

Volleyball

LOMA LINDA 3, WESTERN CHRISTIAN 0 >> Demari Webb had 13 kills for the Roadrunners in the victory over the Lancers, 25-23, 25-17, 25-23.

WOODCREST CHRISTIAN 3, ONTARIO CHRISTIAN 2 >> Jacklyn Post and Madison Maynes had 11 kills for the Knights in the loss to the Royals, 22-25, 18-25, 26-24, 25-23, 15-12, in Ambassador League play. Maynes also had 20 assists and three aces while Annaka Jorgenson had 12 kills and two blocks. Ontario Christian will play at 6 p.m. Tuesday against Loma Linda Academy.

RIM OF THE WORLD 3, SAN GORGONIO 0 >> Leiana Kanoho had two kills and three aces for the Spartans (6-15, 1-6) in the San Andreas League loss against the Scots (17-5, 7-0), 25-10, 25-14, 25-14. Tatiana Russell had two blocks for the Spartans. San Gorgonio will play at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday against Arroyo Valley.

Boys Water Polo

SAN GORGONIO 16, SUMMIT 2 >> Micah Hanning had five goals for the Spartans (9-18, 6-3) in the San Andreas League victory against the Skyhawks. Ben Yanez scored three goals for the Spartans while Miguel Hernandez scored two in the win. San Gorgonio will play at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday against Granite Hills.

Grand Terrace tennis victorious over Colton

Lauren Aguillard and Grand Terrace (6-4, 1-1) defeated Colton, 14-4.

Aguillard recorded a single sweep for the Titans while Vivianne Ramirez and Moira O’Neill recorded a doubles sweep against the Yellowjackets in Sunkist League play.

Grand Terrace will play on Friday at Kaiser High School.

Redlands East Valley tennis remain focused

Redlands East Valley held off Citrus Valley, 11-7, on Thursday in Citrus Belt League play.

The Wildcats have suffered just one loss during CBL play, which has come against crosstown rival, the Redlands Terriers.

Against the Blackhawks, No. 1 doubles team of senior Emma Bohnert and junior Breanna Blackey won two of its three matches.REV

The duo of Bohner and Blackey are in their second year as a doubles team.

“It was difficult in the beginning. We struggled with communication,” Bohnert said. “Communication is key in doubles and we gained each others trust and now we high five each other and try to encourage one another to keep fighting.”

While their communication as grown stronger, the tandem has goals bigger goals in mind.

“We want to become as strong as we can and win as many matches as we can,” said Blackey. “We want to continue to improve throughout the season and be able to look back and be proud of how hard we worked together.”

For seniors such as Bohner, who is a four-year varsity player, she has seen the Wildcats program finish no higher than fifth in the Citrus Belt League the last two season.

“We have beaten Cajon and Citrus Valley so we are planning on being up there (this year),” she stated. “As a team our biggest goal is to make it in the Top 3 and we are on the path to doing just that.”

Junior Julia Vizcaino expressed the same goal for the Wildcats this year.

“I want REV to be in the top three (of the Citrus Belt League) this year and qualify for CIF,” Vizcaino said. “We are looking good so far.”

Vizcaino won two of her three matches against the Blackhawks as the Wildcats’ No. 2 singles player.

REV will continue its journey to the top of the CBL standings at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday against Yucaipa.

Roundup: Aquinas girls tennis remain unbeaten in Ambassador league play

GIRLS TENNIS

AQUINAS 16, ONTARIO CHRISTIAN 2 >> Natascha Pirkovic went undefeated in her matches for the Falcons (7-1, 3-0), sweeping the Knights, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 in singles. Caroline Brown and Roxanna Shabahang also provided singles sweeps for the Falcons while Sabrina Kinnally and Franz Geronimo swept the Knights (0-7, 0-3) in doubles, 6-1, 6-1, 6-1. For the Knights, Mia Nishanian and Hannah Kennedy won two matches as a team in doubles against the Falcons. Aquinas will play at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday against Arrowhead Christian. Ontario Christian will play at 3:15 p.m. Monday against Arrowhead Christian.

VOLLEYBALL

GRAND TERRACE 3, SAN GORGONIO 0 >> Tatiana Russell had six kills while Evelyn Soto had eight assists in the Spartans (3-4) loss to the Titans, 25-9, 25-10, 25-16. San Gorgonio will play at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday against Riverside Ramona.
