Redlands High football player Michael Boafo released from hospital

Defensive back Michael Boafo of Redlands High School is resting at home, according to position coach Will Pomfret.

Boafo was taken to the hospital during a football game against A.B. Miller when he collapsed on the sideline Oct. 16.

When it was that discovered that he had bleeding in his brain, he underwent successful surgery that same night.

Update on the condition of Redlands coach Mike Mauger

Doctors were able to close up the abdomen of Redlands football coach Mike Mauger Tuesday night, according to the team’s Facebook page.

The update also stated that the odds of survival have increased and the removal of the breathing tube will be the next part of the recovery process for Mauger.

“So thankful for the Lord’s blessings and for all of your prayers,” Mike’s wife Robin is quoted as saying in the update. “Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”

Mauger, who has been a member of the Redlands High community for 25-years, has been in the hospital for 14 days after he was rushed to the hospital on June 3 from the high school for emergency aorta surgery.

UPDATE: Redlands High coach having emergency aorta surgery

Mike Mauger, who is been a teacher and coach at Redlands High, needed emergency aorta surgery today, according to a tweet from head football coach Jim Walker.

Members of the Redlands High School community has also taken to Twitter asking for positive thoughts during this time using the hashtag, #PrayForMauger.

A member of the team stated that the players were informed by Walker of the news during their sixth period class.

 

UPDATE:

At 8:12 p.m. Jim Walker tweeted an update on the condition of Mauger.

He stated that Mauger was out of surgery, which took over three hours as an aorta aneurysm needed to be repaired with a stint. He also mentioned that the linebacker coach is listed in critical condition.

June 4 (8:54 p.m.) UPDATE:

Mauger has been moved to cardiac care unit and placed in induced coma, according to Walker, who tweeted the update. He also stated that more surgery may be needed for Mauger tomorrow.
