Immelmann returns to Hangar 24 today

Why anyone would want to celebrate the end of summer is beyond me.

But that’s just what Hangar 24 Craft Brewery is doing today (September 14).

However, Hangar 24 is also celebrating the release of this year’s Immelmann, the beer that kicked off its Barrel Roll series back in 2011.

That we can certainly get behind.

Immelmann is a bourbon barrel aged imperial porter, with this year’s edition clocking in at just under 11½% alcohol by volume.

The limited-edition brew will be available on tap and in 750mL bottles ($20, with a three-bottle limit) when the brewery opens at 11 a.m.

Also available on tap (in half-pints) will be limited quantities of the following:

  • Vintage Chocolate Porter
  • 2013 Immelmann, Wheat Whiskey Barrel Aged
  • 2013 Immelmann, Rye Whiskey Barrel Aged
  • 2012 Immelmann, Rye Whiskey Barrel Aged

Those beers, plus Chocolate Porter and Immelmann 2013 will be available in an Immelmann flight for $14.

And if that weren’t enough barrel-aged goodness, the brewery will have a very limited quantity of its Barrel Roll #7, Tailslide, a bourbon barrel aged version of its Fourth Anniversary Ale.

The celebration will also include three live bands (Soul Opus, Natural Heights and Naïve Thieves) playing between 3 and 10 p.m., plus the Big Easy Sandwich will be serving muffalettas, roast beef sandwiches, fish tacos and more from noon to 8 p.m.
