Column: Columnist, bigwigs break in new bowling alley

Sunday’s column (read it here) is about Chino Hills’ new bowling alley, Chaparral 300. It’s due to open later this week, although they’ve been saying that for a while now (the website says it will open in November).

I got an advance look at the lanes last Wednesday. That’s me above on the left, bowling with Mayor Art Bennett. The photo is by Peter Rogers, a councilman. I had some high-powered company.

Note how the lights along the gutters track the progress of the balls. Fancy.

Whoo-hoo, Chino Hills! And whoo-hoo bowling! Although I hardly ever bowl and I’ve never actually broken 100 in my life. Maybe, now that a bowling alley has opened up within walking distance of my house, my time has come! At the very least, my soon-to-be-nine-year-old daughter will get a kick out of this. Fun column, and congrats on getting in before any of the rest of us! 🙂

    Hi David,

You seem to be rather obsessed with bowling lately. Are you aware that there used to be a small bowling alley in Ontario at 218 W. Holt Blvd.? The building now houses the local chapter of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.

[No, I wasn’t. Thanks for enlightening me. — DA]

Did you pick up that split?…
