SAN FRANCISCO — The Giants are playing for something today. The Dodgers, not so much.

You wouldn’t know that the Dodgers already know who they’ll play in the National League Division Series, and when and where, by the lineup card manager Dave Roberts filled out today:

Here was Roberts’ explanation:

The Giants can clinch a wild card berth with a win today. If they lose and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, a one-game playoff will be held to determine who plays the New York Mets in the wild card game.
