Brenna McIntosh notches Cal State San Bernardino career record

The Cal State San Bernardino volleyball program has produced a half dozen All-Americans at the middle blocker position. So being the school’s career leader in any category is quite the accomplishment.

Senior Brenna McIntosh put herself there over the weekend in the Coyotes 3-1 win over Cal State San Marcos.

McIntosh had already broken the school record in solo blocks the first weekend of the season but her latest comes in the category of total blocks. She managed four in that match to giver her 500, two more than former All-American Kim Morohunfola.

“It’s exciting,” she said. “When I came here as a freshman I would have never thought I’d be able to do something like that. It comes with having a good coaching staff and good team around me.”

McIntosh now owns career records in solo blocks (99) and total blocks (500). She needs five block assists to own that record as well, held by Morohunfola (405, 2000-03).

McIntosh said she was aware of the impending record. Sports Information Director Mark Reinhiller had written about it earlier and her grandmother had been keeping track.

“I knew I was close but when you’re out there playing it isn’t something you think about,” she said. “You’re just playing.”
