Second period: Blackhawks 3, Kings 0

Patrick Sharp scored in the opening moments of the middle period and the Chicago Blackhawks built their second 3-0 lead in as many games this season against the Kings. Chicago went on to defeat the Kings 5-2, spoiling their Stanley Cup banner raising celebration in the season opener Jan. 19 at Staples Center. The Blackhawks speed and skill were too much for the Kings to handle last month and that’s the case again so far Sunday. Chicago outshot the Kings 32-18 through two periods. The Kings are missing three key defensemen because of injuries, but that’s not why they’re down by three goals going into the third period.
