Chris Kaman likely to miss Sunday’s preseason game vs. Denver

ONTARIO — In the sole interest of pacing himself for the preseason, Lakers center Chris Kaman plans to sit in the team’s second night of a back-to-back Sunday against the Denver Nuggets.

“Who does a back-to-back in preseason?” said Kaman after posting 10 points on 4 of 12 shooting, 10 rebounds, four assists and four turnovers in 21 minutes. “That’s the [stupidest] thing I’ve ever heard.”

The Lakers sat Pau Gasol and Steve Nash in the team’s 104-95 preseason win Saturday against the Golden State Warriors at Citizens Business Bank Arena for the same reason. Kaman and Gasol will essentially flip positions at the center position, while D’Antoni plans to scale back Jordan Farmar’s playing time and slide Steve Blake to the backup spot. Farmar logged 12 points on 4 of 10 shooting and seven assists, while Blake posted six points on 2 of 8 shooting and three assists in 21 minutes.
