Carter to get forfeit win after San Bernardino brawl

The Carter football team will receive a forfeit win Friday in its San Andreas League opener due to suspensions from a San Bernardino brawl.

San Bernardino’s football team won’t be able to field enough players to take the field Friday against Carter due to suspensions stemming from a fight during its 45-6 loss to Palm Desert last Friday.

Carter is 5-0 so far this season and is ranked No. 2 in the CIF-SS Eastern Division. San Bernardino is 1-4 this season after snapping an 18-game losing streak with a victory over Perris on Sept. 14.

Several players from both teams left the bench areas to join the fight that broke out on Friday during the fourth quarter of San Bernardino’s game with Palm Desert. The rulebook states that any player who leaves the bench during a fight will be ineligible for the following game.

“Hopefully, we can learn to keep our composure,” Jeff Imbriani, a first-year head football coach at San Bernardino, said. “We need to stay on the sidelines and allow the coaches to get involved.”
