Alhambra 6, Montebello 5 — Jake Sanchez drove in Joe Ramirez with a double to help Alhambra upset Montebello in walkoff fashion in an extra-inning game in the Almont League. It was just Montebello’s second loss of the season in league play as the Oilers drop to 11-10 overall and 9-2 in league. Alhambra moves to within two games of first place with a 15-7 overall record and 7-4 in the Almont League. James Giabalvo earned the win in relief for the Moors. He entered the game with runners on first and second base and no outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but picked off a runner and struck out two to get out of the jam. Then after Sanchez drove in Ramirez to take the lead, Giambalvo completed the victory with a shutout frame in the bottom of the eighth striking out two more batters. Giambalvo finished the game 3 for 5 at the plate with an RBI, run, and a double.
