As far as Week 1s go, this one definitely holds it own. I know I’m pretty pumped about the three games I’m covering this week, starting with Cajon and Los Osos tomorrow night. After putting up 41 points on Bishop Amat, I’m definitely interested in seeing how Richard Brehaut and the read option out of the gun stacks up with Cajon’s D, along with watching Walter Kazee dropping some more moves.

REV-North on Friday should be just as fun. The Fox Sports-Prime Ticket audience (I’ll be the dude frantically writing if you see me on the tube, because the speed in this game is out of hand), the defending CIF-champion North Huskies and the senior-dominated Wildcats. Chris Polk and James Calhoun alone are worth the price of admission.

Then of course, Saturday will see me go to the mountains to watch Big Bear play Aquinas. I went to Big Bear quite a few times last year (I’m actually considering running for mayor) and of all my trips up the 38 or 18 or whatever highway I was on, the Aquinas game last December was the coolest. Between Chike Amajoyi of Aquinas running his heart out and the Bears’ miraculous fourth-quarter comeback, last year’s CIF-East Valley semifinal was one of the better games I’ve ever covered. I doubt Aquinas coach Josh Henderson agrees with me, which is why I can’t wait to see what happens.
