Teen wounded in West Covina stabbing

WEST COVINA — A 15-year-old boy is expected to survive after being stabbed in an unprovoked attack as he walked home from school Thursday, police said.
The crime took place as teen was walking on Valley Boulevard near Nogales Street about 5:15 p.m., West Covina police Lt. Marty Sevilla said in a written statement.
“He was approached by the suspect, who stabbed him for no apparent reason in the back,” Sevilla said. “The victim turned towards his assailant and was stabbed two additional times in the front torso.”
The wounded teen ran to his apartment complex where friends called for help, the lieutenant said. He was hospitalized with wounds not believed to be life-threatening.
Police described the attacker as a Latino man, about 18 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 180 pounds, of medium build, bald, wearing a white T-shirt and gray shorts.
