Football: What will happen in 2009?
Starting in January, we will begin the process of projecting the 2009 top players at each position, as well as a new top ten football team lists, along with as many fall schedule's as possible. Next week I'll post the All-CIF football teams...that's right, all football, all the time. To get this started, how about a sneak preview from the Scouting Guru's perspective. We expect the Guru to be hard at work until next fall.

Rowland quarterback Michael Ball had a great year and will only be a junior next season.
The Scouting Guru has been all over the San Gabriel Valley and beyond, and like always, he's offered to share his thoughts, free of charge. Don't hate, enjoy it for what it's worth, which is one man's opinion on the talent in the San Gabriel Valley.
From the Guru ...
So, the idea of this team came from a ton of area coaches. So with the help of game footage and results of the all-league balloting, here is the 1st Team All-Underclass Team as put together by the SGV/IE Scouting Service.
Offense
Quarterback: Michael Ball, Rowland
Running Back: Adam Muema, Charter Oak
Running Back: Ricky Johnson, West Covina
Wide Receiver: Ify Umodu, South Hills
Wide Receiver: Wallace Gonzales, Glendora
Wide Receiver: Geoffrey Vaughns, South Hills
Offensive Line: Siosi Tanui, South Hills
Offensive Line: Richard Tejeda, West Covina
Offensive Line: Andy Orozco, Charter Oak
Offensive Line: Michael Wells, Diamond Ranch
Offensive Line: Raymond Ragoza, Baldwin Park
Guru Notes: The quarterback position was a no brainer. Ball stood out as the best underclassman this year. But he will have competition to hold the position as Glendora's Chad Jefferies, Bishop Amat's Jerry McClanahan and Charter Oak's Josiah Thropay will give him a run for the money. And here is something else to consider. South Hills has had NINE consecutive QB's named to the 1st Team All-CIF. So whoever gets the nod at QB on Cameron/Barranca gets thrown in the mix. Running Backs to watch for include J. Anderson from Amat and freshman Jamel Hart from South Hills. There is a ton of size at the WR position with Umodu and Gonzales on the field. And Vaughns has some of the best hands in the area. Along the front, the kid from SH already has an offer from BYU (and he is only going to be a junior next year).
Defense
Defensive Line: Tre Hale, Damien
Defensive Line: Peter Nonu, South Hills
Defensive Line: Leonard Rhodes, Walnut
Linebacker: Tre Evans, San Dimas
Linebacker: Reyes Barrera, South Hills
Linebacker: Brack Traley, Damien
Linebacker: Leon Youngblood, Charter Oak
Cornerback: Darian Johnson, Bishop Amat
Cornerback: Dennis Rufus, Charter Oak
Safety: Brandon Golden, Charter Oak
Safety: A.J. Powell, Charter Oak
Guru Notes: Hale and Nonu have big upsides and will fun to watch next year. The linebacking core is solid and if CO makes another run at the title next year, it will rely on the strength of the secondary. Any one of those three guys could start at BA right now if they wanted to. SH's Miles Bevel (a 2x 1st-team all league selection at Free-Safety) is one to watch. Which leaves us with one final position...the all-purpose position!
All- Purpose: Cawantas Brown, San Dimas
Love the way this kid performs and competes on the field. HC informed us that he wants Brown at 205 lbs. next season. If that is the case, mark him as the early favorite to be the League MVP. He is that good. No punters and kickers until the end of the spring. Sorry!
As you look at the team, one thing becomes apparent, BA just doesn't have the best talent in the area. If they get to seven wins next year, it will be a miracle. Charter Oak seems stacked and one thing to remember, the SH fresmhan team in 2006 went 9-1 and is considered one of the best teams they ever had. So you know that SH will be stocked and ready to go in 2009.
Love to get some feedback and if they are any players that we missed, well, that should be good enough motiviaiton when you are in the weight room this winter. Happy New Year.

TRAVIS SANTIAGO TRANSFERING TO CO IS NOT THE BEST IDEA, FROM A COACHES STANDPOINT
That is the problem with folks to me AMAT does not need defending the school speaks for itself. One thing I noticed is as of right now 3 kids have scholarships & 2 go to AMAT right now. Hell, the third attended AMAT his Freshman and Sophmore years but hey you all squab over that one:). I for one prefer to see the team over achieve next year as some feel they did this year rather than set them up for a down fall. I know who will be comming back and who is expected to contribute but we close to the program know they need to grow in to their positions. Same team always.
amat varsity;
I never said Amat is going to win it all next year. Just defending Amat against the statement made that (they just don't have the best talent in the area and if they get to seven wins next year it will be a miracle.) I truly feel there is still alot of talent at Amat for years to come and tried to name a few players who displayed their talent this year. I know Amat's 2007 freshman team beat Crespi and I think Notre Dame, but I wasn't boasting. Just trying to show that a freshman record doesn't reflect what the team will do as varsity. Anyway, just defending Amat--thats all. After all, aren't we on the same team?
Dear Santiago,
Don't let the door hit you on the way out! You never were nor will you ever be a Dawg! You chose us, we never chose you so good riddance until we play you later in your career. I am going to laugh if your standing on the sidelines watching us beat you in the next few years. Your dad acting as your agent has lied about you from the beginning so let me be the one to put an end to this rumor and say you will not be missed at South Hills once and for all!
YOU AT S-HILLS WILL NOT MISS SANTIAGO, BECAUSE YOUR ARE BOOTHS DAD.U LEFT LOS ALTOS A COUPLE YEARS AGO CUZ U GOT KICKED OUT OF BEING THE FRESHMAN COACH. NOONE LIKED YOU, AND HATE TO SAY IT, BUT UR SON IS NOT THAT GOOD, AND THATS PUTTING IT NICELY. HE NEVER EVEN STARTED WHEN HE WAS WITH THE VIKINGS JR ALL AMERICAN, PLAYING BEHIND JOHNSON, NOW AT WEST COVINA. HE RODE THE BENCH ON THAT TEAM, WHICH MEANS HE'S PROBABLY NOT THAT GOOD OF AN ATHLETE, CUZ AT LEAST IF UR THE BACKUP QB, U PROBABLY START AT ANOTHER POSITION. HATE TO BREAK THE NEWS TO YOU, BUT SOMEONE HAD TO DO IT.. ONLY WAY UR SON PLAYS IS IF SANTIAGO "STUD" TRANSFERS OUT AND UR THE QB COACH WHICH IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY...
Will Shirley the Transfer from West Covina to So. Hills become Cameron Deens Replacement come football season or is he really sticking to baseball?
Amat is back...
Have you listened to yourself, don't put pressure on these kids to win it all. The consensus is AMAT will be back but in about 3-4 years. Real prominence. Also, AMAT freshman lost to the schools you are boasting about. Be honest and keep it real. AMAT is good but give them some time the nucleus of their team is gone with those seniors who were extremely strong.
Yup. everyone who thinks Santiago will have a cake walk and be starting next year easily, think again. The name booth had a great freshman season at Los Altos. His sophomore season at South Hills wasn't the greatest, but any QB who has a broken leg and doesnt practice all summer wouldnt do that good. Booth has excellent height and a good arm, next year at 100% he should be quite a QB. SH offense had plenty of weapons to be as potent as they were this year, and there defense comes back with alot of speed.
people please stop acting as if santiago is the next coming of a superstar at quarterback. remember the name booth because he has the right body and mind for the quarterback position and left los altos after his freshman year and brought some of his best teammates with him so they could start and play on the varsity team next year. this quarterback is smarter in the classroom and on the football field and has more potential because he is the right height and weight. some of us at south hills would not miss santiago and his family arrogance. bogan already realizes everything already mentioned and there's no panic in him so everybody relax south hills will be just fine without santiago and his former teammates will look forwarding to beating him and charter oak in the years to come...
Here are my problems with James Escaraga or however you spell his name.
1. He is not a guru. Fred gave him that name so Fred is vouching for him. You sure you want to vouch for him Fred.
2.He attempts to evaluate the worth of fourteen to eighteen year olds.
3. He doesn't understand Amat Football. They do not have or never had a monopoly on all the great players in the Valley. They have always had good players that play great on Friday nights.
unfortunately the santiagos have a problem commiting to anyone in any sport since trav started playing travel ball. since he was so committed to co for football and baseball he should have went to co to start off freshman year, do you know why he went to sh anyway? heard he isn't the most stellar student so he should stay at south hills since they are known to push their athletes through especially since the principal is from baldwin park and knows the family. he may end up at covina too we heard he's friends with the ap ???
Looks like coach Martin is in trouble at Diamond Bar. If the love of his life, Jason Kimsey can't make your team of returners at quarterback, linebacker, kicker, punter or any other position, then Diamond Bar is in for a long year. They pushed and promoted this kid all year at the expense of seniors that deserved to play. Well Martin, your future is fast approaching.
Yeah ! thats what I thought.
Hard to beleive he's leaving since he would have been pitching as well at SH.
I also heard that he was about to come home to Baldwin Park if his old man got the baseball coaching job at BP.
HE WOULD BE GREGS KID. SO HES LEAVING SOUTH HILLS, WHERE HE WAS THE VARSITY BACK-UP AS A FRESHMAN, AND NOW GOING TO CHARTER OAK, IS THAT CORRECT?
GO BRAVES !!!!
Ok Amat and Damien fans,
Here is what I just found out in and I`m pretty pissed off about it. ST. Paul Principal Laurie Barr is firing Head Coach Pete Gonzales for reasons outside of football. From what I was told the school is having financial problems, so Ms. Barr has made a deal with the devil. She apparently will fire Coach Gonzalez and she`ll recieve a one million dollar gift from a alumn to hire his brother to coach the team. I believe the name of the family is Willig. They all went to ST.Paul. This is a very bad time for Swordmen faitful and for the principal to resort to this tells you the lack of integrity and profeesionalism Ms. Barr displays. I know for a fact that many players will jump ship and go elsewere. Amat and Damien this may be an opportunity to get some real good players. Drake Griffin(LB), Zack Rodriguz(LB/SS), Deon Williams(RB), Markus Viramontes(LB),Stephan Carrillo(OL) and Paul Lopez(QB). I will never support ST.Paul football again as long as Ms. Barr or (AD)Mark Henandez who told Pete he had nothing to do with the decision "ya right" are running the ship . It is truly a tragedy for Pete, his staff and the players returning next season, which I felt would make another run for a CIF Title. We will never know. Three years 2 Semifinals, 1 league Championship, and 1 CIF Title (the first in 27 years) What a shame!
Pete I know you will find another job and win another CIF Title with the hard working staff that you have. Ms. Barr "what goes around comes around"
is that Norm or Greg's kid?
No Way,
Ya i'am pretty sure he is going to charter oak high school. His older brother is my best friend and I'am about to get set to help Travis and his family to move into their lovely new house in the charter oak district( Trust me i don't post rumors on here, i have the facts) but i do have to agree with you he did have some young athletes on his team, like hart that kid was amazing. But I went to every single game of travis's and he was just amazing every game, he looked like he was ready to be the varisty qb already, he's so smooth. So YES WAY he is going to be at charter oak partna. and yes i did talk to his dad.
Tebow may end up as a Tight End, Wide Out, Safety, or Punter in the NFL; he may even be a QB. Heck, he might just skip the whole thing and replace Robert Schuller at the Crystal Cathedral. I don't know and unlike some, don't pretend to have a crystal ball that predicts stuff like that.
To leave him off of any short list of the best college QB's in the country in 2007 is just plain ignorant.
Besides the Davey O'Brien, (Best Collegiate QB), and the Heisman, Tebow won the Sullivan, AP Player of the Year, and the ESPY Best Male College Athlete Award. He threw for nearly 3300 yards and 32 touchdowns and scored another 23 on the ground. For all of his yardage last season, Matt Ryan's QB rating was around 127, Flacco's about 145. Tebow's rating: 172. All of this while playing for, (unlike the other two chaps mentioned), a National Championship against some of the best teams in the country.
Don't forget my problem here was with the “guru's” original assertion, not with how the kid projects. His upside, downside, backside, or sideside don't come into play with me, I'm not a guru, simply an observer.
Happy New Year Chief.
Don I think you're finally wrong this time. Tim Tebow was the best college player and by extension that qualified him for best QB in college. Like some of the Nebraska running QBs were best quarterbacks in college football at their time.
As far as the other observation. Flacco and Ryan were the best college QBs from an NFL standpoint as a "Drop back " stand in the pocket and maybe move some QB yes they both were and are better than Tebow from that perspective.
Sorry but everything Guru says isn't wrong...just most of it is especially when it comes to his SH-centric views.
If Flacco and Ryan were
"Y O U R best QB's last year, where do you rate the guy who won the Davey O'Brien and the Heisman Trophy?
You know, that big tall kid from Florida, I forget his name"
let me help you out here chief. O'brien and Flacco took their teams to the nfl playoffs. Tebow isn't even projected in the 1st or 2nd round if he decides to leave. Talk to any nfl scout and they all same the same thing, Tebow is not an NFL qb, their words not mine.
cohs--travis is a stud but talk to his dad, he isn't going anywhere, if he does, too bad for him, he has a cakewalk at sh. You say he could have been the coach cuz he made kids look like fools out there, hope your referring to kids on the other team because yes he did do a remarkable job for the team but he wasn't the whole team. Not to take anything away from travis but he had heckof teammates that helped make him as good as he is. he will be the first one to say it.
Damien Parents,
Morrison is gone let it go. Gano has his work cut out, so let him do what he needs to do and stop whinning. After sitting in the stands watching 10 Var. games, I am convinced that the jr. QB (Guillen) is not the guy. He is slow and takes too many sacks, good arm but not mobile. If he can't move, he is a sitting duck. The JV QB will push him for play time. He is a tall lefty that can run and throw a mile. The rest of the team will follow the QB play, whoever it is.
Go Spartans! Go Gano!

... Last year, the two best QB's in college were Boston College's Matt Ryan and Delaware's Joe Flacco. ...”
As hard as I try to just let your stuff go, I can't hold back here.
If Flacco and Ryan were
Y O U R best QB's last year, where do you rate the guy who won the Davey O'Brien and the Heisman Trophy?
You know, that big tall kid from Florida, I forget his name
mike and mike.
maybe you're right he is gone but are the rest of the coaches as well. does anyone know how many of morrison's lower level coaches are being kept on. how about the varsity assistant coaches. who is staying and who's not?
anyone know
Usually don't post a lot of blogs, but the recent one caught my eye.
In the business of recruiting, it's all about upside and potential. Now, in the case of Matt Barkley of Mater Dei, let's play it straight here, the kid is the real deal. Hey, he started as a freshman at Mater Dei. You've gotta be pretty good to do that. And there is no question that he has been playing against top caliber competition.
But, everyone in Orange County that has seen the kid have all said that his senior year was a bit disappointing. Hey still good enough to garner an SC offer, but he just failed to live up to the extremely high expectations that were put on the kid.
After watching the coaches tape of the game against Corona Centennial, he didn't have a great night.
Now, the statement that we said was that we felt that Deen was not an offer kid for SC, but a preferred walk-on prospect and WOULD BE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO FIGHT FOR THE TOP SPOT WHEN THE OCCASION RISES. We didn't say that he was better than those guys, but he would be thrown into the mix that is all.
And for the argument about competition let me throw this one at you. Last year, the two best QB's in college were Boston College's Matt Ryan and Delaware's Joe Flacco. Ryan was a D-1 FBS QB and made all throws against top-flight competition and is now proving all the hype was worth it with his first season with the Falcons.
Flacco on the other hand..didn't play against top-flight competition. He played against D-1AA schools and was good enough to lead his team to the championship game..where they lost to App St. Now, if we use the competition factor here, Flacco should not have been a first round pick.
But, scouts loved his athletic ability, his arm strength and the Ravens thought so much of him that they drafted him in the first round. He's proving their judgement was a correct one as he is in line to be a finalist for Rookie of the Year ballot in the NFL.
It's all about upside. Deen (who by the way just got offered by Northern Colorado) has a big-upside and projects to do well at the D-1AA level.
And if we are to use the competition theory, one has to wonder why Brent Seals (who we love and have projected him as one of the top prospects in the area) hasn't garnered a D-1 offer other than grant-aid offers from the Ivy League schools? It's a tough market out there.
BTW, look for a certain D-1A school to maybe tripping the kid out in January...can't reveal the school right now.
Remember, it all about upside. Now, if you can't see that?...That's on you.
Out next column comes on New Year's Eve with all the questions that you have posted being answered and we will be revealing out top-10 list for the Class of 2010.
Mattsmack
This is just another example why the guru is a complete joke! What a dumb A@@.
This clown is searching for a job that will stick. Ask the boys at the track or better yet James, come clean, man up and tell everyone the truth.
NO BALLS
Damien Junior Parent give it a rest already. he's gone now move on. People like you are the ones who are embarrassing the program and the school. GET OVER IT!!
Before you talk smack about Mater Dei's Matt Barkley you really should consider who his competition has been this season...
Mater Dei faced Carson, Corona Centennial, and Servite before the Trinity League.
You speak of Matt Barkley like he had a poor season playing the same teams that Charter Oak or South Hills played this year! LOL!
As much as you hate to admit it, Mr. Guru, there is a huge difference between a player's stats that come against the best programs in the state and/or nation and the typical San Gabriel Valley program that typically considers ONE visit from a Pac-5 powerhouse (like Mater Dei) comparable to a Super Bowl.
Statistics are not just statistics. You must always consider the level of competition. Those boys over at Bishop played against more than one team that had 3 or 4 or more Division 1 recruits!!!!!!
Bishop's players did not rack up stats against Nogales, Wilson, or Pioneer! LMFAO! I know this, the scouts know this, everyone with a half a brain knows this...
Mater Dei's Matt Barkley is getting a full ride to a DIV 1 school, Mr. Guru, regardless of his "statistics"
You can't measure Matt Barkley the way you measure Chris Allen. They did not even come close to having similar levels of competition.
Basically, stats are crap unless the stats of the opponents are taken into consideration...
Otherwise, all you will have is a bunch of hyped up JC kids wondering why in the world they did not get a scholarship...
LEVEL OF COMPETITION IS EVERYTHING! WHY IS IT THAT ONLY BISHOP PEOPLE KNOW THIS???
Guru/Fred,
Did the freshman QB leave South Hills? I noticed a comment saying he will possibly be starting at Charter Oak. Do you have any word who will be replacing Deen next year? Also freshman Jamel Hart, u seem to mention him quite often. No other freshman is really mentioned in the valley but him. Is he that great? I see he didnt do much in South Hills last game against D.ranch, the previous game sophomore running back Gutierrez led the huskies yet didnt run the ball nearly at all in the D.ranch game, what hapend with him? He seemed like he was much quicker and faster? Is the sophomore leaving South Hills or is the freshman just better than the sophomore?
Did the QB from Rowland beat OLu, Crespi, or give Poly a game?? just a question.
Did the Qb from rowland beat OLu, Crespi, and all of those SGV teams that Amat beat?? could he of given poly a game?? just a couple of questions.....
Just an FYI only, but I believe that the kids name is spelled Casarez, not Cazares as is sometimes common with that last name.
:)
HEY CLAPPERS MATERIAL
As good as Clap may come to be, he has a long way to go. No discipline, had some dumb penalties. Likes ts hit QBZ late BIG lOU WOUNT TOLERATE THAT. IF HE GETS HIS HEAD ON STRAIGHT, MAYBE. WONT HAVE PERRI AND WILLIAMS AROUND TO WHIP HIM INTO SUBMISSION. GOT ALL THE TOOLS BUT NEED S TO BE HONED.
guru? hey phony, wanna be,con man....Amat is 3 miles from your cage at sh and you need info on them? you're so pathetic! you're a homer, with no life who passes on info? of little or no value and call your self a scouting service, I know the schools are on to you, you must be trying to scam the kids and parents to make a sheckel or 2
guru again who is "we"?
what are the names of the guru staff?
Also happy to report for all underclassman that Nike has released its combine schedule. Area players that want to participate in the combine (which is free) can go on the high school page on espn.com and register.
The dates for the combines are Saturday April 11th at LA Southwestern College and Saturday, April 18th at Veteran Stadium in Long Beach.
As always, for the 5th consecutive year in a row, we will be working the combine in the height and weights section of the combine.
Hope to see you there!
sgvfootballfan, that's 6 DB's. Do you guys run a dime defense every play? Who stops the run?
Clapper might have been the best DL on CO's team this year. Guru? What gives?
Funny but neither one of those Juniors made All League or even Honorable Mention.
Thanks Scott.
Damien is better off without you. Know this. Your stupid coaching hires, your arrogant unapproachable manner, the games you played with Taylor Herrera and the a$$ kissing by parents that you allowed only made that program a joke in the end. The final year was a absurd dream. Cutting seniors who were loyal to the program for players who didn't even play their junor year was a low blow especially after some like Avila quit by midseason for lack of playing time. Another worthless quitter who didn't deserve a Spartan jersey. When the senior parents wrote the letter of no confidence you were duped again into blaming the junior parents and punishing the juniors, except your son. Gano will see you punished the wrong players when we make the playoffs next year with James leading the way. Enjoy yor seat in the stands Scott. We'll have something special for you after we win league. Thanks for giving us all the motivation we'll need. The Juniors weren't the problem Scott the leaderless Seniors were.
Love the info from Amat keep it coming. Since I have nothing to do on a Saturday night, other than watch Cal lay a big number on Miami, we will go back to the tape and evaluate the players in question.
We can safely say that the only player from Amat that will land on recruiting boards this spring in Johnson (and no, Oregon HAS NOT offered Johnson). We have confirmed that with the RC from Oregon this week.
Keep the info coming.
cohs,
i've heard that santiago's brother was an outstanding two way and special teams player in charter oak's program a few years ago and many in the chargers community thought his younger brother would be the next star power the chargers were hoping for after chris allen graduated this year.
he has to look no further than allen's success this year passing and running the football to realize he would be a key piece to the puzzle on an already loaded team with talent.
interesting, everyone is talking about who is the one to follow in allen's shoes (big shoes to fill that i hear this kid could fill) because with the right one under center they may even be believe this or not better next year some predict!
Guru
Although I usually agree with most of your observations I have to say that your comment about BA for next season sounds ridiculous and biased. I hope it will serve as motivation to any underclassmen at AMAT who may read it.
AMAT is loaded with talent year in & year out and everyone has agreed that with this year's new coaching staff in place, the sky is the limit. Also, every year AMAT's freshman team beats teams like Crespi, Loyola and Notre Dame so what does SH's 9-1 freshman team have to do with it. Most underclassmen at AMAT this year didn't get that much recognition because of the strong seniors playing at key positions.
Key Returners:
McClanahan at QB, Anderson at RB, and Johnson at DB are obvious returning starters with loads of talent. Also Cazares at DB/LB, Alberico at DL, and Kane at DL will be seniors and are talented impact players.
New Names:
Alex Acuna at DB/WR, started at corner this season as a sophmore for the first two games of the season but injured his knee with two minutes left in the OLU game and was out for the rest of the season. It is rumored he will also play some WR next season. This kid is very fast and extremely skilled on offense and defense.
Julian Gener at DL, another sophmore this season who made some big stops in huge games this year against OLU and Crespi that were overshadowed by seniors' big plays.
Freshmen:
Rios Ruiz at QB, has the potential to be the varsity starter next season as a sophmore, and is the probable starter if McClanhan decides not to play for baseball reasons.
This kid is that good, as Fred Robledo already posted an article about him at the beginning of this season as a name to remember in the future.
Zach Shay at RB/DB, this kid has loads of talent with deceiving speed and could be a D1 prospect by the end of his junior year.
Well Guru, these are just to name a few so please do some homework next time before you make a statement like that.
I wouldn't be too sure that Josiah Thropay is going to be the starting quarterback for the chargers, Look at for young stud Travis Santiago going to be a sophmore at cohs after a stellar campaign at south hills, he led the freshmen team at quarterback and for crying out loud he could've been the coach he made kids seem like fools out their. He is going to be starting for the chargers next season, if him and josiah duke it out for the position, travis wins! hands down!
Fred
Just something to keep in mind! the West Covina team that lost to DR this season 39-7 when they were freshman they beat our group of boys pretty good and look what happened four years later. It doesn't really matter what kids do as freshman because lots of things change in four years.
i think there are a few montview league kids to watch for. such as, kalin bradford, bobby miles(yes he plays football too), mike silva, and jorge de horta from workman, jordan canada from duarte, etc.
Mr. Guru,
I respect your opinion sir, but you did pick West Covina to beat Amat this year...
And you forgot about Darien Johnson!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6r9bpusy-0o
Fred
DR will be loaded with Elisha Henley DB/WR,Amari Staten DB/RB,Brandon Taylor WR/DB Daylon Wright DB/WR,Jacoby Carter DB/WR,Aaron Almond DB,Jason Bonnilla LB,Mike Wells OL and Chase Price RB.Plus quite a few more upcummers."WHOW" that's an impressive list of players.Four or five D-1 prospects for sure.Fred I here DR has a loaded group of freshman kids are coming in next year as well. Things are looking real good for the coaching staff at DR in the future.
coach high-me, I'm laughing so hard, again, at you..you are nothing but a honk for sh, is brogan your parole officer or what? I guess Amat should schedule the huskettes or co this year just to prove who has talent, you exaggerate and glorify those who go on to D2 or JC ball and fail to realize who plays the highest competition around, so honk all you want, just show me the scoreboard if the huskettes or co wants to step up, with all the talent you say they have in 09..........ohhh wait, first one guy would have to grow a pair(brogan) and the other guy needs to forget his last 2 games aginst the Lancers, hmmmm what are the odds of that happening, 2 chances........slim and none and slim just left town!
I see no mention of Charger noz grd #99 6'4 275
CLAPPER, jr and nasty. With a lil self control and Big Lou whuppin should be a star.
Between now and next season it would be interesting to hear what else these athletes can do to hone their skills for 09. Do any wrestle, do hoops, baseball, or track or just hit the weights?
Yes Guru, the 06 SH Frosh...I witnessed it myself.
They were down 27-0 to Claremont and stormed back to win 34-27 that year, only game that stands out here.
The Westside is watching, too.
Fred
DR was a great story this year and I expect big things out of them next year as well. Nobody said it during the play-offs but DR was missing two starters at the corners because of academic ineligibility which I think really hurt us in the final game. Those two players according to Roddy could be D-1 players and one of them will be our starting tailback as well.So if you boys are reading this please get your academics in order and Roddy will definitely have a scholarship waiting for you at the end of your senior year. I know our defence will be as tough as this year and our QB has a year under his belt and is much improved. WE still have our receivers in theck for next year and I think our OL will be OK.Everyone will still be talking about our schedule with the acceptation of Oaks Christian it will be another demanding year for our kids, but if it turns out anything like this year I'm sure our fans will be very happy.Remember there is no other coach in the SGV doing as much to get there kids scholarships like Roddy does. We are DRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Better yet take a look at the preseason best from the past couple of years and the people who must hav ebeen under a rock for a couple of years. Time for teh Tribune, Fred and teh GURU to look in the morror and examine th process that has players making the All Area team and more importantly the lack of football people to evaluate talent.
Wasn't Danny Pertusati ranked No. 1 at QB last year. That was a joke in hindsight especially when Paradez was down the street and Deen was clearly coming on strong and Allen had started to cement his position as a winner.
Get some football people in here instead of listening to Dad pump kids.
