UCLA’s hoops leadership

UCLA senior Josh Shipp said leadership was an issue this season, and UCLA coach Ben Howland was asked about it.
“Yeah, I think for an example Jerime Anderson is very outspoken and I think he’s going to be a very good leader for us,” Howland said. “I think he has leadership qualities. Kind of like Jordon Farmar was a leader. Arron Afflalo was a leader. Usually, to me, it is in that person’s personality.
“Brandon Knight was a great leader when I was at Pitt. I thought that certain players lead by example and some are more verbal. For example, Alfred Aboya, really leads by example, how he approaches the game and practice. He really helped those freshmen during the year.
“Luc Richard Mbah a Moute was a very good leader. People didn’t realize what a good leader he was on our team the previous couple of years. I thought he did an unbelievable job. Part of it was how he worked hard and also he was pretty verbal, even on the court and it’s impressive.”
