UCLA flips three-star tight end Moses Robinson-Carr from Oregon

UCLA landed a verbal commitment from three-star tight end Moses Robinson-Carr on Sunday at the end of the Antelope Valley High prospect’s official visit. Robinson-Carr committed to Oregon in June last year, but withdrew his pledge to the Ducks in December in the midst of a coaching staff change in Eugene.

Robinson-Carr (6 foot 5, 260 pounds, according to Scout) is UCLA’s second tight end commit for the class of 2017 and the program’s sixth verbal commit in the month of January. UCLA offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch has history working in an offense that emphasizes the tight end as Michigan’s Jake Butt won the Big Ten Tight End of the Year Award in each of the past two years.

Last year, Butt was a finalist for the John Mackey Award, given to the nation’s best tight end, and Michigan’s second-leading receiver with 43 receptions for 518 years and four touchdowns. Fisch was the passing game coordinator and quarterbacks and wide receivers coach at Michigan for the past two years.

UCLA lost tight end Nate Iese to graduation, but Caleb Wilson and Austin Roberts return with playing time at the position. Jordan Wilson, a three-star recruit in the class of 2016, is coming off his redshirt season, and the Bruins have a commitment from four-star tight end Jimmy Jaggers.

The Bruins have 15 commits with two-and-a-half weeks until National Signing Day.
