Austin Roberts declares for NFL draft

UCLA’s tight ends group got a little less crowded on Saturday as redshirt junior Austin Roberts declared for the NFL draft.

The Bruins are expected to get tight end Caleb Wilson back from injury next year and add transfer Devin Asiasi, who sat out last year due to NCAA transfer rules. They also have redshirt freshman Jordan Wilson and freshmen Moses Robinson-Carr and Jimmy Jaggers in a stacked tight ends rotation. Robinson-Carr played mostly on special teams this year while Jaggers redshirted.

More on Roberts’ decision (and UCLA’s recruiting class after the addition of offensive lineman Chris Murray)

Hmm. Odd decision IMO. He needs another year. But, Good luck and best wishes, Austin.

As long as Wilson is back healthy, the Bruins will continue to shine at the TE position, which is rarely a weak area for us.

Assuming Caleb returns to full strength, we’re looking good at TE with him, Devin Asiasi (coming off RS) & Jordan Wilson, Jimmy Jaggers.

Hoping it works out for him. . .but glad he graduated before leaving.

I tend to doubt Caleb Wilson will recover fully till half way threw next year or may have to take all off next year off just to be safe. My sources : he’s pondering the NFL now but I believe he will stay.
Depending on his early readiness to play at near full recovery, we are looking at Asiai moving to DE. He’d be a spectacular DE but also could be the GOAT UCLA TE. He’s THAT good.

We will never forget you, Amos. Best wishes and good luck in your future endeavors.
