What do you think the odds are that Oregon will reinstate Masoli mid-season and if if they do, do you think the Pac 10 will step in to enforce a harsher penalty?

A: I don’t think the Pac-10 holds jurisdiction over these kinds of off-field suspensions (though Larry Scott would probably disagree). So I think Oregon is in charge of this matter. I think they would like to reinstate Masoli in October. If they can’t they might just redshirt him.

How would you characterize Lane Kiffin’s relationship with Todd McNair when they were both assistant coaches at USC?

A: They got along pretty well. McNair lobbied the administration to hire Kiffin or Steve Sarkisian after Pete Carroll left, so he was comfortable working with them because they got along OK when they were all assistants.

How do you rate Lindsay Soto as a reporter for covering USC football as compared to Erin Andrews and Melissa Stark? Who is the best reporter based on your experience?

A: I’ve never really dealt with Melissa Stark. Erin Andews has always done an excellent job but she only covers one game or year or so, so she isn’t really “reporting,” much on USC except for the week she prepares for the game. But she is always prepared.
Lindsay Soto is around USC more frequently, and she is a graduate, so she is familiar with everything, which is an advantage that even helps me as far as reporting goes.
