Thursday Final: El Rancho completes perfect season in Del Rio League; Cal clinches playoff spot with win over Pioneer

EL RANCHO 49, SANTA FE 31

DOWNEY — There will be no sharing of the Del Rio League football title. El Rancho High School saw to that on Thursday night.
Andrew Perea accounted for 284 yards and five touchdowns and Luis Perez rushed for 153 and two scores and the Dons completed an undefeated league season with a 49-31 victory over Santa Fe at Downey High School.
Perea threw for 212 yards and three scores for the Dons, who improved to 8-2 overall and 5-0 in league play. They will receive a home game for the first round when the CIF-Southern Section Southeast Division pairings are released on Sunday.
Eli Ledesma threw for 191 yards and three touchdowns for Santa Fe, which finished 2-8 and 1-4. The Chiefs entered the game with an outside shot at a playoff spot, but that ended with the loss.
El Rancho led 27-21 at halftime. The Dons then put it away with touchdown runs of 2 yards by Perea and 25 and 30 yards by Perez.
Perea threw three touchdowns during the first two quarters to give El Rancho a 27-21 lead at halftime.

CALIFORNIA 42, PIONEER 13
WHITTIER >> The California High School Condors wrapped up a third-place finish in the Del Rio League with a convincing 42-13 win over visiting Pioneer on Thursday night.
Leading the way for the Condors was senior running back Nathan Lowden, with three touchdowns and 179 yards rushing on 26 carries.
Senior quarterback Adam Satti was a near-perfect 12 of 13 for 188 yards and three touchdown passes.
Cal High senior wide receiver Jake Mata had four catches for 72 yards and a score, while Pioneer junior quarterback Phillip Hernandez was 12 of 26 for 169 yards.
“The pressure was there to get back in (the playoffs),” Cal High coach Kyle Trudell said. “Coach (Jim) Arnold did a great job in the previous eight years (in the playoffs).”
