Hangar 24 AirFest takes flight Saturday

One of the biggest beer events in Southern California takes place Saturday (May 20): The Hangar 24 AirFest & 9th Anniversary Celebration.

There appears to be something for everyone at the family-friendly event.

For beer lovers, the brewery plans to have more than 35 Hangar 24 beers available throughout the day.

For air show lovers, the brewery has eight aerial teams and performers scheduled to fly during the event.

For those who prefer their speed to be land-based, the brewery has lined up an appearance by the Smoke-n-Thunder JetCar, the fastest jet car in the air show industry, accelerating from zero to almost 400 mph in just nine seconds.

For music lovers, the AirFest features a trio of bands to keep you entertained: Fender Kids Rock Free, Honky-Tonk Boombox and the Spazmatics.

For the kids, there will again be a KidsZone. Activities include a bounce house, a rock wall, slides, an inflatable obstacle course and a build-your-own toy helicopter class.

Tickets for the event are $25 (plus a $2.24 service fee if purchased online) for those over the age of 12, $5 (plus a $1.24 service fee if purchased online) for kids 6 to 12 years old and free for those younger than 6 years old.

Pre-sale beer tickets are also available in advance and are $7 (plus a $1.34 service fee if purchased online).

Tickets are available in advance by clicking here.

Parking is free.

Proceeds benefit Hangar 24 Charities, which raises funds to support local children’s and veterans’ charities. Last year, the organization was able to able to give to 23 local charities.

Chairs, factory-sealed water bottles, EZ-Ups and umbrellas are welcome at the event.

What’s not? Drones, weapons, illegal drugs, coolers, skateboards and bikes (there will be bike parking available outside the event), lasers and animals (certified service animals excepted, of course). You can view a full list here.

The event takes place from noon to 10 p.m. at Redlands Municipal Airport, 1755 Sessums Dr.
