Uncle Chuang’s Bakery opens near U.C. Riverside

Craving some Asian pastries, but don’t feel like driving all the way to Chino Hills to go to the 85°C Bakery Cafe?

Then simply head to Uncle Chuang’s Bakery in Riverside’s University Village.

The bakery opened late last year, but we finally got around to stopping by today to check it out.

Uncle Chuang’s is a smallish shop, but it offers many of the same items you’ll find at other Asian bakeries, including pineapple buns, loaves of bread and pastries filled with red bean, lotus paste or taro.

Prices are very reasonable. We picked up four pastries, and the total was just over $5.

Plus, guests who spend more than $5 can receive a free beverage.

We’re looking forward to returning to try the cream puffs.

Uncle Chuang’s, 3740 Iowa Ave., Suite 109, is open until 7:30 p.m. daily and opens at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday and 7:30 a.m. the rest of the week.
