Chipotle, Jersey Mike’s Subs, Wing Stop and Major Brain Freeze Yogurt coming to north Rialto

Rialto 1There’s been quite a bit of speculation about that plot of land on Riverside Avenue just south of the 210 Freeway in north Rialto where Fire Station 202 used to be and is currently home to the city’s In-N-Out Burger.

When the project was announced back in 2010, we were sure one of the tenants was going to be In-N-Out, but it was only going to take up one of the plot’s three acres.

In 2011, the plan was to use the other two acres for another fast-food outlet and a full-service restaurant.

Miguel’s Jr. was, for a long time, expected to be the other fast-food outlet.

All three restaurants were expected to be open by the end of that year. That didn’t happen.

Early in 2012, municipal redevelopment agencies were done away with and that set the project back.

In-N-Out finally opened at the end of August, 2013.

Rialto 2In August of this year, signs went up indicating Wing Stop was going in across from In-N-Out. We kept hearing that Chipotle was going to be a tenant in as well, something that was mentioned when In-N-Out opened.

Signs are now up for three other eateries in that building under construction at 186 E. Easton St.: Major Brain Freeze Yogurt, Jersey Mike’s Subs and Chipotle.

Jersey Mike’s has been hiring and is expected to open January 14. Chipotle is currently hiring.

There’s still a spot for yet another eatery, but it doesn’t seem quite big enough for a sit-down restaurant. More likely another drive-thru. Perhaps Miguel’s Jr.

Update: It looks like that third spot will be divided into two businesses: The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and another business “yet to be determined.” Thanks to Rialto PD’s Sgt. Josh Lindsay for the update.
