Kevin Davis finishes off football coaching staff at Etiwanda

One of the biggest chores any football coach has is assembling a coaching staff. That isn’t always easy, given what teaching positions may or may not be available.

New Etiwanda coach Kevin Davis is done with that mission and he is pleased with the final product.

Davis, a graduate of Etiwanda who most recently served as offensive coordinator at reigning CIF Central Division champion Colony, brought three coaches with him.

Among those coming over from Colony is Jay Miller who will serve as defensive coordinator. He had coached linebackers at Colony. Miller was also on staff with Davis previously when he was at Etiwanda, then followed him over to Colony when he went there.

Also coming over from Colony is Alvin Burkley, who will coach wide receivers and is on campus at Etiwanda.

Doug Huston, who is in the district as a teacher at Ontario, will coach offensive line.

Lenny Ware will handle the secondary. He is a graduate of Montclair and a former collegiate standout at UNLV. Last year he transferred to Etiwanda with a teaching position but had not been coaching. Davis was quick in adding him.

Also added to the staff is Eddie Rummel who had been offensive coordinator at Alta Loma for three years under Joe Szczepanski. Davis says Rummel worked under him previously at Etiwanda but left and went to Alta Loma when Davis moved on to Colony.
