There have been a flurry of one-day basketball events in recent years, and now you can add one at Arroyo Valley to the list.

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan. 19, Arroyo Valley will host a full slate of games for the Dr. Martin Luther King Basketball Classic, all but one of which are girls games.
The schedule begins with a pair of girls junior varsity games at 8 a.m. The varsity schedule begins with Ganesha vs. Claremont at 11 a.m., Perris vs. Rubidoux at 12:30 p.m,, Corona Santiago vs. Bloomington Christian at 2 p.m., and Fontana vs. Riverside King at 3:30 p.m. The lone boys game is Arroyo Valley vs. Fontana at 5 p.m., and is followed by two more girls games: Arroyo Valley vs. former league rival San Bernardino at 6:30, and Barstow vs. Colony at 8 p.m.
The event is organized by Arroyo Valley girls coach Michael Anderson, who has been trying to make Arroyo Valley known for girls basketball since he took over the program about a year and a half ago.
