Jurupa Hills football’s community day is Friday

While high school football is still extremely popular, the proliferation of high schools in the area has given it perhaps a little bit less of a community feel.

Remember when Fontana had just one high school? Now there are 5, located in 3 different leagues. While many people go to support their local school, others go to see the best game of the week. Jurupa Hills, the 5th of the 5 high schools in Fontana to open, has been trying to build a community feel for its football program. For several years, coach Ed McMillon has has a community day, where the community can come out and meet the football team.

This year’s event is on Friday, Aug. 14, from 3-6 p.m. McMillon said there will be “music, food, fun, and games for the kids.” It’s an opportunity to meet and take pictures with players. While you could go to just about any practice at schools and take pictures with and of players, Jurupa Hills is making an active effort to interact with the community.
