POMONA — A 79-year-old Pomona woman died late Saturday after being struck by a van at the intersection of White Avenue and 9th Street, police said.
The woman’s name was not released Sunday pending positive identification and notification of her family, officials said.
She was crossing eastbound across White Avenue when she was struck by a van making a left turn from eastbound 9th Street to northbound White Avenue, Pomona police Lt. Mike Keltner said.
The elderly woman was taken to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries a short time later, Keltner said.
The 40-year-old woman driving the van remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, the lieutenant said.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation, however no arrests or citations were initially made, he added.
The crash is being investigated by the Pomona Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team.
