Distraught woman on overpass prompts closure of 210 Freeway in Pasadena

PASADENA — A woman threatening to jump from an overpass of the 210 Freeway in Pasadena early Friday prompted the closure of all eastbound lanes of the freeway for about an hour before police persuaded her to come down, authorities said.
Pasadena police responded to the Lake Avenue overpass of the 210 Freeway about 4:15 a.m. after a 23-year-old woman walked up onto the bridge and threatened to jump, Pasadena police Lt. Jason Clawson said.
Officers negotiated with the woman for about an hour before she ultimately agreed to come down off the overpass, he said. She was taken to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
All eastbound lanes of the 210 Freeway were shut down until 5:30 a.m. due to the incident, California Highway Patrol Officer Jennifer Cassidy said.
