Cordell Broadus ends up at Bishop Gorman in Vegas ….

Former Diamond Bar receiver Cordell Broadus, who left the school shortly after the 2013 season in search of a higher profile place to play, is now at Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, according to a story in the Las Vegas Sun.

The article suggests that Broadus’ family will establish residency in Vegas in order to make everything kosher. That shouldn’t be too hard since Broadus’ father is rapper/entertainer Snoop Dogg.

Broadus was a Tribune All-Area selection in 2013 as a junior and already has several college offers.

Aram’s Take: How will The Snoop Jr. Years be remembered in SGV lore? There’s the whole brawl against D-Ranch. There’s the incredible athletic ability. There’s the Robledo interview with Snoop at a playoff game. There’s the notoriety that D-Bar got … its most since Stephanie McDonald (hottie) was a student back in the early 90s. I guess it’s open to interpretation.

it appears no school is big enough to contain the egos of kids and parents once they get famous on our blogs here in the SGV. If you are a sophomore and get some profs no sense at staying home, the bright lights and zillion dollar contracts are calling you. Why not shine a spotlight the guys who gutted it out for 4 years and were happy to do so?

  • The stands

Snoop will probably sit next to Randal Cunningham as they watch their sons on the grid iron. Good luck to Cordel; one must take advantage of every opportunity at their disposal and he has more than most.

Looks like the person who was on the live feed starting this rumor was correct . He also stated that noodles an kanya would also transfer with him . If they move kanya would also have to go .he lives with him . Noodles missed a whole year to play with Cordell and now that is not happening if he stays in diamond bar .

    • Lance R

Yes what happens to Noodles? I am sure here comes the transfer ala Scoby. Back to WC or becomes one of Roddy’s boys a d’ranch…….Amat?

      • AramT

Isn’t this actually good for Noodles? He goes to being arguably the top WR now … and he’s locked in at safety. I don’t see how it hurts him. Less mouths to feed now on offense.

        • Lance R

Well your right there Aram, Point I am trying to make is what really does D’Bar have this year besides Noodles. He will want to play for a winner and a trip deep into the playoffs and a possible Championship appearance his senior year, that I doubt he will get at Diamond Bar. Playing for Diamond Bar is like playing for Walnut. Good teams at those schools only come around every so often. That is why I think he may transfer out. May being the key word.

          • Valley Athletics

Diamond bar has a lot of good receivers and Dbs where I see them needing noodles the most is at running back and maybe even shifting him to linebacker .

          • AramT

The last time anybody REALLY saw was at the very end of his SOPHOMORE year vs. La Serna in the playoffs and if you judge by his THREE playoff games as a SOPHOMORE, he was easily one of the top THREE overall players in the Southeast Div. at the end of the season.

And now he’s gonna be a senior, so I expect him to be even that much better. He might be the best overall player in the area next season. He is the headline act at D-Bar this season. Nobody else on his level, in my opinion. Noodles with a veteran QB and another talent like Kanya will be more than enough to make D-Bar plenty dangerous.

D-Bar didn’t just lose its best player, it’s actually just getting him back.

          • Valley Athletics

Along with bell and lamb . That is some offensive weapons . The problem is the line both offensive and defensively .

          • 626

I’d take Desean Holmes, Zion Echols, Tre Sidney and Taeon Mason over Broadas…but he’ll be playing at the next level nonetheless.

          • Mustang Man

As much as it pains me to say this, but DBar will be loaded with talent next year. They were almost all Jrs last season with everyone of their starting skilled players coming back except for Broadus. Then on top of that they will be bringing back Bell (from injury) who missed all of last season and Hull. This team will be the early favorites to win the Championship of their new league next season.

    • Not likely

Bell no longer lives with the Broadus family and Hull is still on campus at DB. It would be very unlikely that the Hull family would risk another year of being ineligible with another transfer.

      • Valley Athletics

Well the person who first mentioned this transfer on the live feed of a playoff game . Was spot on . This was a couple weeks before he left diamond bar . I could see kanya following after the end of school year .

to start…there is no “incredible athletic ability” he has some nice skills…not a Pac 12 type, so quit drinking the kool aid and a ton of schools want nothing to do with his daddy and the circus that will entail…I see 1 year, maybe at a place like UNLV, Hawaii or similar, has to be in the bright lights, so Laramie Wy, Manhattan KS, Lubbock TX, Las Cruces NM and others need not write

Stop with the hate. The kid is 6’3″ and has great speed which are the main skills that recruiters look for in receivers these days. As far as top programs are concerned, everything else can be developed. I guarantee you, the kid ends up at a top D1 program next year.

      • http://sgvtribune.com/ Galileo

define great speed? his game tape suggests otherwise and that was not against very good competition,…SJB wanted nothing to do with him(snoop lion circus) and they take EVERYbody…

        • Lupe

Completley agree, seen the kid live a few times. On huddle numerous times. he doesn’t jump off the screen. All these people don’t know what a top tier D1 wr looks like.

        • Larry Louis

The kid is all hype…. OVERRATED

      • Larry Louis

He sucks his number suck and number dont lie. If he was all that he would have stayed at Poly.

    • Larry Louis

      Hit that on the spot

  • Valley Athletics

Congrats to trevon sidney and Zion Echols on being selected to sophmore Allstate team .

  • AMAT 73

What I don’t get is why the need to transfer to a higher profile school . It’s been said many times on these blogs that if you have talent it doesn’t matter what school or division you play the scouts will find you . If in fact he has all that talent ( incredible athletic ability ) mentioned here why the need to transfer to be seen ?????

  • joho

The kid definately has potential, but incredible talent? not by a long shot, there are many Southern Sect. / Pac5 WR’s just as good and many who are better. His Father is a celeb and is using his status to profile his son, nothing wrong with that, Hopefully Gorman will bring out the kids talents and he will suceed at the next level.
