  • Palomares Guru

    I like it!

  • Inland_FB_Fan

Chino Hills beats #9 team in Ca by 15 pts, They should be #1

    • AramT

I dunno man. Holding Tesoro to 15 points until very late in the game might be more impressive than dropping Hart in a shootout. They’re both great wins.

      • Inland_FB_Fan

#26 Tesoro is typically not a high scoring team, where Hart is. #9 Hart also had the Duo of Brady White (Elite 11 QB) And Irwin (#8 WR in Nation) is much better than anything Tesoro has.

        • Yellow Balls

Irwin played 1 quarter he hurt his shoulder I believe. I was at that game.

          • Big Cat

pretty sure Brady didn’t play in the fourth quarter either. (when chino hills took the lead) lol

        • All About Us

Tesoro averaged 31 PPG last year. Their QB Modster is junior and will be an Elite 11 this year and Smeltzer their WR is a 3 star recruit. Wins by LM and CH were both impressive.

    • no-step

Who made that team the #9 team in the state? A Coach’s poll? Their W-L record? Or was it the sports writers? Just because you have a ranking doesn’t necessarily make it so.

      • Inland_FB_Fan

They were CIF Champs last year, Have the #4 QB in the nation & #8 WR. They are consistently one of the best programs in SoCal since the 1990′s. They were ranked in the top 20 in the state by Cal Preps, Max Preps, LA Times and USA today.

    • jcaz

      Agreed

  • MonroVian

Everything looks good but I agree Chino Hills and LM should be flipped. But like I said pretty spot on Aram.

  • SGV 4 30 Years

Looking at the rankings and trying to project a few weeks down the line, here’s what the top ten could look like.

    1. Chino Hills- 4-0 Looking good
    2. Los Altos – 4-0 Back from the dead
    3. Charter Oak – 3-1, could also be 1-3 and out of the top 10
    4. Damien 3-1 best start in years.
    5. Pomona 3-1 they did beat a PAC 5 school by 26 pts.
    6. St. Francis 2-2 tough schedule
    7. Amat 0-4 this Aledo team is tough. Could be tough pull together.
    8. Glendora 2-2 tough schedule.
    9. DRanch 4-0. Weakest schedule on the list.
    10. San Dimas- 1-3 looks like last year. Playing DB for this spot

    Others receiving votes:
Diamond Bar- What no battle of the Diamonds?
South Hills- could play their way on to the list.
Also remember ranking change once the ranked teams start playing each other.

    • GP AKA Green Machine

Wow a 1-3 San Dimas and No Monrovia? Monrovia will be at least 3-1 at this time with a possible loss to St Francis. Diamond bar has Walnut, San Dimas, and Brea Olinda in the next 3 games. They’ll be 4-0. Pomona at 5? Really, they are good but not that good. You really can’t start ranking them there until they win a league title, and a Midvalley title. If Dranch has a weak schedule how do they make the top 10 . Damien….they will be 2-2 at best in four games with losses to Charter Oak and St Paul. Where’s La Mirada? Amat can’t drop below 5. I don’t think you put any thought into your Few weeks down the road rankings…It’s just way toooo early.

      • The truth and nothing but…

Damien losing to St. Paul? What are you smoking? St. Paul might very well go 1-9 again this year. What? Did them beating Firebaugh 63-0 impressed you? Aram is entitle to his opinion, not every poll needs to include Monrovia. BTW, Monrovia will not be 3-1, you guys are not beating Los Altos or South Hills, and please don’t use 7 on 7 as a reason.

        • Damien Alum88

          totally agree

        • observantcat

If I hated a team that much I guess I would not want to say the name either. Monrovia doesn’t play South Hills until maybe later in the playoffs and we will enjoy a great win over Los Altos, the only team I see giving us a pre-season problem is a West Side team call St. Francis. Have a drink on the house and lets see the final score with SD vs. LA then we can talk. Until then relax my man, unless someone from MTown has taken something from you.

          • The truth and nothing but…

I will gladly have my drink. Meanwhile, you and your pals keep smoking whatever it is you have been smoking because that’s some hallucinating shitz.

          • observantcat

Like I said my man, read Saturdays headlines.

          • guest

Yes right! Monrovia should be #1 in any standings projection (hear that all you haters). After all they have the best boosters and recruiting of any HS program in LA. Also they have a dynamite internet home schooling-athletic enhancement program to keep athletes academically eligible! What’s not to like!

I am thinking a move to Division 1 is in order to play with the big boys like LB Poly where Monrovia rightfully deserves to be. Go Green and White– Central Division CIF champs! Next stop state!

        • GP AKA Green Machine

We don’t play SH and the rankings being discuss were through 4 games…Monrovia’s 5th preseason game is Los Altos. We beat SD, we are going to beat Bonita and Arcadia, St Francis is tough and we could lose…so read my comments first…thanks,

          • The truth and nothing but…

Why the first four and not the first five? After which you’ll be either 3-2 or 2-3.

          • GP AKA Green Machine

The comment above was specifically talking about the next 3 weeks.

      • SGV 4 30 Years

I know it’s to soon that was part of the post. It’s impossible to tell. Do I really think Amat will be out of the top 5? Of course not but they could also be 0-4. Soon. The Amat people will need to be talked off the ledge. La Mirada was an oversite. DR the emphasis was on the list.

      • Damien Alum88

St Paul will lose to Damien. They have a weak non league games.Program still in need of help. Damien is up and coming

        • Yellow Balls

St Paul is the sleeper in the league. A few transfers and a loaded soph class will have them battling for 2nd in league. I think they wil give Damien a tough game. As bad as they were last season that game was close.

          • The truth and nothing but…

LOL! I think you had one too many refills in that red cup. Who are the transfers?

          • Yellow Balls

They will be fine the league is much weaker than in years past and they have a solid foundation. They are used to the strength of schedule so I am sure they will win at least 5-6 games this year. Look at their roster and a few names are a bit different. Not the game changers that people expect but depth and good players.

          • Samsteel

Not transferring in more like transfer out. They lost a few good peeps from last years freshmen team. This years freshmen team even weaker. No strong players yet… program needs lots of help.

          • The truth and nothing but…

I have heard the same. Not only that, their OC recently suffered a heart attack and I don’t think he will be coaching this year.

          • Yellow Balls

Nobody transferred out that is a lie if you heard otherwise.

          • Local Football Fan

Beat Salesian? You obviously haven’t seen Salesian play. When SP plays Salesian that game will be over by halftime. SP might beat Warren and SE, but that will be the extent of it.

          • The truth and nothing but…

Besides Firebaugh and maybe Warren, who will their other wins come against?

          • Yellow Balls

They have a solid shot at beating Southeast, Salesian, La Salle and Harvard Westlake. Damian is a toss up and they will not beat either Cathedral, JSerra or SF

          • The truth and nothing but…

LOL! What are you drinking in that red cup? There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY you guys are beating Salesian, Damien, La Salle, or Southeast. You may hang with HWL but I don’t know if you got enough to beat them this year. The only reason you beat them last year was because the QB got hurt in the first quarter.

          • Yellow Balls

Im not disrespecting anyone but I feel that everyone in the league has way better athletes than SP does thats a given. That being said I believe that SP has a better staff than Salesian, La Salle, Southeast and HW so they will be able to control the tempo. Tonight I watched Salesian just absolutely get exposed on defense and offensively they arent anything special. Tons of athletes no coaching whatsoever. I will take it one week at a time and I will pick SP over Southeast.

          • The truth and nothing but…

After yesterday, I think you guys will beat Southeast and maybe Salesian too. With the right bounce of the ball, who knows?

      • TruDat

you had me until the St. Paul comment. Damien toyed with them last year.

      • Run-n-Gun

Agreed GP! You are spot on about SD, Pomona, DB and Damien. SD will be 1-4 going into league, they cant compete outside their league or division. Los Al is going to man handle them. DB will run circles around their next 3 opponents and Pomona has shown they can out athlete teams until they run up against a team they cant out coach. Im curious to see how the Wilcats do against Bonita tonight. My guess is they will run by the BHS Dbs and Zamora will have a another nice night.

  • Mike

Wait until league starts. Many teams have a very weak pre league schedule.

  • TruDat

Irresponsible to even put Pasadena on here. The HC has multiple 0-10 and 1-9 seasons in his very recent past. There are several SGV 1-0 teams who your lazy butt could have put here.

    • The truth and nothing but…

True but Reyna makes a difference and I am not a Pasadena fan far from it. He was the reason Downey won CIF in 2012.

      • New York

Wasn’t Downey a very physical and run-oriented team that year?

        • The truth and nothing but…

They threw almost the whole game in the finals against La Serna.

  • SGV_FOOTBALL

Rankings look good, I have to say that those kids at Bishop Amat have the rare opportunity to experience Texas football. I was looking at Aledo’s stadium and it holds 8,000 people! People in Texas love their football.

Hopefully BA can bring home the W not only for the SGV but for California.

Hopefully CO can knock off LA Mirada to shake up the rankings.

    On another note:
Does anyone know if Scoby was cleared to play against USC, I was floored by all the freshman talent USC had playing.

  • ApacheFan

All I gotta say is don’t count out Arcadia! Even with a young team and all of there transfers going to La Salle. They are a sleeper team in the Pacific League, and especially with starting QB/Safety Nico Hillier going both ways he is a beast. And they also have a pair of great defenders in Bradley Mills and Josh Benson that can match up with any of Monrovia players. So, in two weeks Apaches will surprise non-league rivals Monrovia!

    • Mean Joe Green

You will surprise us with a touchdown?

      • MonroVian

        Brilliant! Haha

      • ApacheFan

I like MHS, but all I’m saying is this year team has a nice QB and some key returning leaders on defense. So it’s gonna be closer then everyone thinks.

        • Mean Joe Green

I can’t speak intelligently about AHS this year. I know you guys had Nico Hillier last year and the only thing that has changed is that you lost Josh Yee and Nico’s cousin, Robbie Hillier to La Salle. I don’t see how you lose those two and get better. If in fact, Arcadia is much better this year, then I welcome it. It would be nice to rejuvenate a cross town rivalry.

          • ApacheFan

Losing good talent was tough, but our size for 2016 class has always been there for the line. Which gives Nico a lot more time. I was gonna say it would’ve been a great game tonight, but this past week Nico has now been sidelined for tonights game, due to illness. I agree it’ll be nice to see the pre-season crosstown rival rejuvenated.

      • ApacheFan

Well all I can say is your correct this time, since Hillier is sidelined tonight due to be sick all week.

    • The truth and nothing but…

Define “don’t count out”, do you mean they will make the playoffs or just competitive?

      • ApacheFan

They will be one of the top 3 teams in Pacific League this year… And with QB Hillier only a junior and solid o-line thats also young but with size they will have a much better team than last year, even with all the transfers to LS.

        • The truth and nothing but…

LOL! Beating Alhambra is fool’s gold. 1) Your team being young is not a good reason why AHS is a top 3 team in the Pacific. 2) I know the Hillier kid since he was five years old. Good kid but not very athletic. 3) Burbank and CV will definitely make the playoffs this year in the Pacific, so what you are saying is you think AHS is better than Muir and Pasadena too? I don’t think so but don’t stop believing!

          • ApacheFan

Your correct about the fool’s gold. I will agree about Burbank but not CV, after seeing them during passing league. Muir is having there troubles and Pasadena has definitely approved with the transfer QB. AHS has had there ups and downs, but the 2016 class is pretty legit and with Hillier at the leadership helm time will tell how this season will be. I believe ppl will be surprised how improved they are even with the transfer losses. Tonight’s game against Monrovia will not be a game to evaluate, since Hillier has officially been sidelined due to being sick all week.

  • New York

I don’t understand what Los Altos has done to be ranked above Charter Oak?

  • GRI

Los Altos, way over ranked, a decent team with good
coaching would destroy LA. This LA has a Very Good Line, and that is it. Any coach that had a clue would stack the line on defense, because LA can’t throw the ball and only has a decent run game. If they didn’t have the line and the quality coaching staff that they do have they would be a sub .500 team. With
the coaching in the Hacienda they will end up second or third. They will get handled by Charter Oak, wouldn’t even be a game.

Now Wilson, as you all know I don’t think much of Gano, but compared to the coaches that been in charge at Wilson since Coach O left, a huge improvement. The team has very little talent, but will have a better than
    usual season, due to coaching.

    I can’t believe what I just said; I think I gave Gano a compliment.
And Yes Los Altos will blow out Wilson, that line on both sides of the ball will be to much for Wilson.
