GO GREEN GO!!! GO GREEN GO!!!

Fred please go watch the Sierra Canyon vs Paraclete game on prep zone….you might be able to change your pick before kickoff..,Really.

    I’m not changing anything

    • http://twitter.com/SGVNSports Fred J. Robledo

The last time I watched Monrovia play a championship game in the rain it wasn’t pretty

    • GP AKA Green Machine

Fred are you taking Downey or La Serna? I have Downey!!!

  • Spartan 03

I like Monrovia’s offense when they run the ball. With the rain, it will force them to run and therefore I like their chances of winning.
This is Freds last week to catch up with Aram in their head-to-head pick ‘em and is taking a gamble. I like Paraclete’s chance of beating Monrovia much better than Rio Hondo Prep’s chance of beating Mission Prep.

    • http://twitter.com/SGVNSports Fred J. Robledo

If I catch Aram, it’s on to Downey-La Serna on Saturday night…

      • http://twitter.com/SGVNSports Fred J. Robledo

Since Aram and I will both take La Serna, if we’re tied, we will guess total points in a winner take all

Ahh, come on Freddie!!!! Since when did “Tribskin pick’em” extend into SGVN pick ‘em? We pick Tribune-only games all season and then when Fred realizes he’s beat, he moves the finish the line back a few feet and now wants to pick whatever games are left. Well, you didn’t catch me and I win for a second straight year … or did you want to extend the contest into the bowl games and see if you can make up the ground. What are you worried about, anyway? You still haven’t paid up for last year!

    • GP AKA Green Machine

I agree, Monrovia ‘s Running game is far more simple than Paraclete’s. With Bueno the zone read had risky hand offs. Monrovia strait hand offs to Ainsworth and Company. Paraclete on the other hand runs the veer which is based on timing, ball fakes, and possibly some pitch action or reverse action. All that ball handling could be an issue when it’s wet. With Both Defense being great, both teams may have to throw a little bit. Monrovia is a much better passing team.

Twas the night before December, when all through the Mid
Every Paraclete fan was stirring, so Greenie he hid.
Their Banners were hung on the fences with care,
In hopes that the Cats would cough up some hair.

The fans were nestled all snug in the stands,
While packets of warmers fit nice in their hands.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Were regretting those borittos and in need of a cra_.

When out on the field there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the seat to see what was the matter.
Picked up my binocs, took a gander an lo
Forgot the lens caps and let out a DOOOH!.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen rain
Made the lustre of mid-day objects look plain.
When, what to my wondering eyes should I see,
But a Tribune Staffer, his initials A.T.

He’s a Monrovia fan, to his seat he went quick,
At the end of the first quarter he really looked sick.
More rapid than eagles Paracletes touchdowns they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

“Now Frazier! now, Ainsworth now, Walsh and Craft!”
Tried to stop them they did but the Spirits just laughed.
Over top of ther defenders! Underneath with a screen!
Now break away tackles! Enough he has seen

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So out to their cars the reporters they did storm,
To spread the word of this beating by a coach named Norm

This poem is much longer but I am too lazy,
just doing this much is already driving me crazy.
Another verse or two then post it for all to see
And get flamed by Greeny, the O-Cat and Philly B.

Watched Greenie leave in a terrible huff,
To lose the Championship tonight really was rough
But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
“The Refs robbed us, they did, and my butt you can bite!”

      • GP AKA Green Machine

Lol…for the past two years he has been trying to keep up with GP aka Greeenie….

        • Colt74

Keep up with? Lost me on that one. If you are talking about games correctly picked..I smoked you. But in any case glad to see you got that patch to sew on your lettermans jacket. :)

Good Luck to the M’town Cats tonight in their quest for a third Mid Valley title . Keep the run alive and get the W . And wishing for an injury free and well played for both teams .

  • New York

Congratulations Monrovia. You boys and Coach
Maddox and his staff have demonstrated remarkable character week in and
week out for the last 5 years. Keep it going!

  • Not Since 1995

Congratulations to Monrovia and Rio Hondo Prep…!

    WINNING FEELS SO GOOD…!

Too bad Bishop NoMAS and South Central Covina hasn’t done it in nearly 20 YEARS…!

    Heh…heh! Heh…heh! Heh…heh!

    • Colt74

Damn..it must be fate..was just watching a movie where Mary rode into town on an ass and now here you are. Yeah 17 years is a long time. But you would know that. That was the last time you had teeth and had to switch to giving gummers. Plus, what would you know about winning?????? Band camp does not count! Hey before I forget, I heard that you are now famous in the same way as Jerry West! He was the model for the NBA logo and now you and your family are now the models for those signs down by San Diego showing the family running across the freeway.

    • GP AKA Green Machine

It Feels real good. Monrovia has nothing else to prove on this level..and should go up. Others have nothing to prove on their levels and should go down. This is not a low blow…You are just looking at opposite ends of the spectrum. This team no longer belongs for winning reasons.

  • WCDan

Congratulations to Coach Maddox and the Monrovia Wildcats on winning their
third Midvalley title, way to keep focus, and finish the season out. Great to see the joy in these boys faces during the interviews and aftergame celebrations, they look like a great group of kids. I like the way qb Blake Heyworth gave credit to his reciever for making a play and to his line for protecting him when asked about his big throw to Craft that started the Wildcat rally, many kids would keep the focus and credit on themselves instead propping up their teammates. Coach Maddox is a great example to these boys and it’s clear his influence is present both on and off the field.

I hate to admit it, but Fred has usually been correct in picking against Monrovia during the passed six years on this blog. It is great to see Monrovia prove him wrong this time.

  • GP AKA Green Machine

WE ARE IN!!! We are calling for all sgv football fans to come and support the wildcats Saturday night at 730 in Monrovia!!! The SGV hits the state stage in 2012!!!!

    Fred,

Looks like you might have Amat #1 in the final rankings! I remember in week 9 or was it 10 that Charter Oak had passed Amat in all the poles (CIF,Maxpreps,Calpreps) So you put CO as the #1 team & Amat #2 well the tables have turned once again & Amat is ahead of CO now in all the poles! There is no such thing as a moral victory in Football & coming close only works in horse shoes & throwing hand grenades..but if it’s any consolation Amat has now lost to the eventual Pac5 winner in the 1st round of the playoffs two years in a row now..Here’s some more numbers for you to crunch..Amat scored 25 points vs the swarming Long Beach Poly defense..The powerful Mission Viejo aerial attack could only score 16..Then the following week LBP heads over to play the mighty St.John Bosco team who many believed would win it all..& they score just 10 points!! Finally they head over to Anaheim Stadium where Mater Dei was lucky to put up 17..Here’s my point If Amat was able to score more points vs Long Beach Poly than any other team during the Playoffs you should probably give them the number one billing…Once last thing there’s no way Amat should be moved down from the Pac5 they have shown they can score points in a hurry & compete against the very best defenses in the Pac5 & in my opinion they were about 2 solid players on defense from making some serious noise this year..

    • tommy gun

Actually the Amat Offense only scored 18 pts Vs the Poly Defense, 7 of those pts. were on a pick 6 on the 1st play of the game.

    • SGV_FOOTBALL

Don’t forget the weather during the 1st round was much better than the weather in the second, semi’s and the finals. Weather played a big roll in the scores of those games.

      • 12th man

Weather was great during the Semi’s..I was there! During the finals it started to drizzle in the 4th quarter but the game had already been decided by then..I was also there!

    • AMAT 73

      12th Man,
      Does it really matter ????????????????

      • 12th man

Apparently to Fred it does!!! He’s been ranking teams from the begining of the season..& I knew it was just a matter of time before he posted the final rankings..Sure enough! He posted today!!

  • AMAT 73

Congratulations to Monrovia on thier 3rd CIF title . Great job and now go out and get that state title. Good luck this week .
