DIAMOND BAR For the second year in a row, the South Hills High School girls soccer team is off to another great early-season start with a 9-2 record.
Friday was no exception as the Huskies, ranked first in the area, received goals from four different players and shutout host Diamond Bar, 4-0, in the Palomares League opener for both teams.
The Huskies, as they have done so many times in the past, scored the initial goal of the game and led 2-0 at the intermission.
All four of the goals were by underclassmen forwards, freshman Maddy Warren, junior Amber Marinero, sophomore Skylar Robledo and junior Hailey Zerbel.
South Hills coach Scott Mocabee was pleased with the balanced scoring, “It’s kind of nice that we have a lot of weapons. I like how we have balance (on the team).”
Zerbel leads the team with nine goals, Robledo has eight and Warren has seven.
“This is a new league and Diamond Bar (9-4) has a winning tradition over here, so this was a good win for us,” Mocabee said.
