Boys Basketball Rankings: Damien No. 1 and getting ready for Open Division; South Hills girls on top

Boys Basketball Top Ten Rankings
1. Damien (21-3) – Can clinch Baseline outright with wins over Los Altos and Rancho Cucamonga, and then will inevitably be selected to the CIF Open Division on Friday.
2. Glendora (22-4) — Hung on to beat Diamond Bar 57-56 and can share the league title with Ayala by defeating South Hills in Palomares finale.
3. Walnut (21-5) – Clinched Hacienda league title and can try to go undefeated in league with wins over Chino and Los Altos to close out.
4. Bonita (18-6) — Can finish third in Palomares with wins over South Hills and Claremont to close out.
5. Los Altos (18-6) — In second-place tie in Hacienda with Diamond Ranch who it plays on the road Wednesday for sole possession.
6. Wilson (19-5) – Needs victories over Nogales and San Dimas to win the Valle Vista league title outright.
7. Bishop Amat (17-7) — Playing its worst basketball down the stretch, losers of three straight.
8. Diamond Ranch (15-8) — It’s second place or bust at home vs. Los Altos Wednesday.
9. Covina (16-8) – Should finish with wins over Northview and Nogales and should Wilson stumble, could finish in a tie for VVL title.
10. Rowland (16-8) – Meets San Dimas Tuesday to break a three-way log-jam for second in the VVL.

Girls Basketball Top Ten Rankings
1. South Hills (19-5) — Can clinch a share of the Palomares title with wins over Bonita and Glendora to close out.
2. Walnut (14-7) – A game behind Chino who it will visit on Tuesday in hopes of sharing the Hacienda league title.
3. Duarte (16-7) — Won the Montview league title with ease.
4. West Covina (16-8) — Could still finish in a tie for second in the Hacienda.
5. Covina (16-9) — All it needs are wins over Northview and Nogales to clinch the Valle Vista league title.
6. Los Altos (14-9) — Will finish fourth in a tougher-than-expected Hacienda.
7. Bonita (12-14) — Humbling season in first year since losing three-time player of the year Nikki Wheatley, whose jersey was retired last week.
8. Rowland (14-7) — After beating Wilson, Raiders need to win out to finish second in Valle Vista.
9. Arroyo (15-9) — Big one against South El Monte Tuesday for sole possession of second in the Mission Valley.
10. Bassett (13-9) – Needs to win one more to clinch the Miramonte league title outright.
