Or guerero. What would we do if they made sense?

          • Pete

Did you see the 4th quarter of the Arizona game? I’ve seen monkeys in a crap throwing fight better organized then UCLA football!

          • EncinitasBruin

I needed to laugh today. Thank you.

The offense is all wrong for UCLA. When you have limited talent ( this is just my opinion ) hard to run that Michigan Offense. Even Harbaugh is having problems with it. Your offense line has to not only run block, but also pass block very well. That takes talent. Your receivers have to get open because if they don’t your pass block will eventually break down. Hence your receivers have to be talented. Running backs have to be quick enough to hit the gaps or cut back to where the holes are. That takes talent. Mora had the blueprint to be successful. That blueprint was Brett Hundley. So no problem right? Mora gets it or so I thought.
He brings in Rosen. That’s ok. If you watch Rosen at SJB the kid wasn’t bad running. At UCLA no running plays for Rosen. And the reason is the Bruins are basically running a Harbaugh offense. You drop back. Go through your reads. If you have to you can always check down to one of your running backs. Only problem is if your offense line doesn’t hold up the QB gets his head taken off. Then if the defense can’t hold it just adds to your problems. Mora is recruiting this kid from Las. I think he’s a dual threat QB. I’m not sure about that. But he looks like if he has to he will take off. In college football it helps to have a QB who can move outside the pocket and pick up some yards with his feet or extend the play.
Go get Dino Babers or Scott Frost or even Mike Norvell. You won’t be sorry.

    4 ups!

Just copied that in my notes for the future…Fight On Pudly!

  • Coach Thom

This program is irreparable. Firing the AD and the complete coaching staff will change nothing. There is something endemically askew with the mindset of our university with regards to athletics. Until the powers that be express more interest in our athletic programs, we will remain second-rate pretenders.

    • FightOn!

You guys wear powder blue and love Harvey Weinstein… Hard to be tough

      • Pudly76

        Darn impossible I’d say!

    • JustOwns

Gosh Coach, that some revelation. I am shocked!

Wrong. It is only in Football that UCLA has been a second tier team – other than the glorious 20 years of Terry Donahue’s reign. UCLA’s other athletic teams have garnered over 100+ NCAA Championships.

One problem is that despite having the highest academic entry standards for student athletes, UCLA keeps recruiting 2nd Tier Players with occasional star players like Rosen and our past linebackers. UCLA simply doesn’t have overall talent as a team. You can see it with the missed tackles, lack of basic football instincts, lack of football fundamental skills, lack of discipline, lack of teamwork. UCLA except for a few players, has really dumb players compared to players at Stanford.

Recruiting is where the reputation and quality of the coaching staff makes a difference. The Linebakers are an example where we have consistently had very high quality players. But the rest of the team – other than an occasional star – is a group of rag-tag players who aren’t NFL quality.

If UCLA could get a Jim Harbough style coach, UCLA would turn its program around nearly instantly. Unfortunately, despite early encouraging signs, coach Mora isn’t a Jim Harbough style coach. He has peaked and reach his potential as a coach. Once it is AFFORDABLE, UCLA will replace Mora.

The only problem is there is no crystal ball as to who will be available as the next coach who has the talent to take UCLA to the next level.

Current Options for Head Coach once Mora is gone:

      1. Chip Kelly – he is available. Who wouldn’t want UCLA to become the Oregon Ducks of 2007-2012? He is a great college coach that did not pan out in the NFL – just like Jim Harbaugh.

      2. Lane Kiffin – if he shows he has matured as a head coach at FAU. He is great at getting the maximum from his players – something Mora has not been able to do. His early career however even at Alabama was marred by EGOCENTRISM that prevented him from working with others. Perhaps he will mature at FAU since he wants to implement Nick Saban’s system and wants to work with others on the team.

      Any other options?

Dino Babers, Scott Frost and Mike Norvell for starters.

    • Sandy Underpants

This is where champions are made. I have the shirt so can’t argue with that.

605 yard offense the Ruins gave up to a team that everyone knew what Arizona was going to do. And they just like all season, the couldn’t slow down the run. It’s called having no talent.

    • Sandy Underpants

Josh Rosen is the best QB ever and you’re jealous he’s not on your team. And he’s jealous too.
