If You Were USC Athletic Director

Who would you call? I would call David Shaw of Stanford today. I know he is most likely not interested. But he’s the best coach in the Pac-12 and as I said before, get turned down the best.

Show some class and have a little dignity, Wolf…….and you’re kidding yourself if you don’t think that quality coaches will be contacting USC about the HC vacancy..it’s still considered a plumb job and a respected program, despite your relentless attempts at tearing it down………… and the phone works both ways, ya know….

    • FreeShabazz

One more jab at Wolf and you will be walking into a world of hurt.

      • Trojan Hoarse

        Jab away, Clubber Lang………

  • snarfy

If I were athletic director I would pay zero attention to what Scott Wolf had to say. I would also be focused on the health of Marqise Lee. Maybe you should do the same. Our best player and a good person was injured on Saturday night. Why don’t you use your connections to find out how Marqise is doing?

  • Helen

Since when does USC limit itself to “the best coach in the Pac-12?”

PS: was Scottie dissing Mora at UCLA?

  • Henry Bibby

    *by the best.

    Does anyone proofread these posts?

Yeah, that’s what we need. ESPN and everyone else telling the recruits and the world that USC is getting turned down for the head coaching job. This is why Pat Haden is keeping the search private. But a hack beat writer thinks getting turned down is a good thing.

    • Golden Trojan

That way the hack can write all the stories about how everybody is turning down the USC job.

  • David Stewart

Henry, Helen,Snarfy and Trojan Great posts. Keep it going.

Are those all your sock puppets, Sunshine Pumper?

  • Fred Sampson

USC is just going to have to roll the dice on a Coach because the sure shot winners already have a great Job, and are not going to leave a Ohio St or a Alabama etc etc . The Athletic Department better cross their “T’s” and dot their “I’s” during their interview process. These so called Hot candidates that are currently coordinators are never a sure shot either, so all us Fans can do is cross our fingers.

Or maybe we can ask Peyton Manning to retire at the end of the year so he can get a head start on his coaching career

  • Booyakasha

By the way, since we are short of a coach now, is it possible to hire a token offensive coach like Marcus Allen or Antony Munoz or Mike Williams to help with recruiting, provide an extra hand on the practice field, and generally help the morale of the team.

    • Trojan Hoarse

I don’t disagree with your idea, but you may wish to choose another word besides “token”……

      • Booyakasha

Yeah I knew it didn’t sound right when i was typing it, but I was too lazy to think of another word. I was just hoping Marcus, Anthony and Mike wouldn’t read the post and be offended.

        • Trojan Hoarse

          ha!…. no worries……we live in a hypersensitive world nowadays….

  • Trojan Hoarse

How about a defensive minded coach like Lovie Smith?…

    • Booyakasha

His Bears teams always flattered to deceive

      • Trojan Hoarse

I figured with the way that Nick Saban and Pete Carroll have succeeded at the college level, as well as with Jim Mora, Jr.’s immediate success across town, that Lovie might have a similar impact……just a thought…..

        • Stu Azole

Pete for sure, and so far Mora too, are a bit of the exception, not the rule. So many NFL guys have failed in the college ranks that it’s hardly a safe call to go that route. Charlie Weis, anyone?

          • Trojan Hoarse

Weiss is more of an offensive mind (in more ways than one), but I get your point……

    • RIP Lane Kiffin

Had the same thought…whenever the current Bears players are asked about new coach Trestman, they are very non committal and luke warm at best. They all still have a lot of respect for Lovie Smith.

  • trojan92

I’d like to see Haden hire Mark Dantonio from MSU. He’s a brilliant
coach who’s quite creative and plays an exciting brand of football.
He’s Jim Harbaugh without the attitude.

  • B.Miller

    Top on my list are:
    Charlie Strong
    Jack Del Rio

  • tim chaney

am I crazy, but I just think gruden is a fit… he has the charisma to take our recruiting class from #57 to a top 10, and he can coach these guys… for me, he’s the perfect fit for usc.

  • RIP Lane Kiffin

Call Jim Harbaugh and tell him here’s his chance to really prove he’s better than Pete Carroll.

  • RIP Lane Kiffin

Does Phil Jackson know anything about football ?

  • ThaiMex

Call Fred C. Sanford (the “C” stands for Coach), and be quick about it you big DUMMY’S! I understand his agent is Lawyer John (When you need a LAWYER real bad, call Lawyer John, a really bad LAWYER!).
    fit Un DUMMY’S

  • sureshot32

I would focus on proven winners (at the head coach position) like Kevin Sumlin and Chris Petersen. I would forget about guys like David Shaw and Pat Fitzgerald… former players who now coach at their alma mater. USC is a tremendous job – even better than it was 3 1/2 years ago because you’re following the guy who followed the guy. Plus, you’ll be able to make the team your own much quicker when the scholarship restrictions expire. But there’s a certain amount of pull that these guys must feel coaching at the school they played for. I seriously doubt anyone in the country could pry either of these guys away.

Petersen could be Urban Meyer 2.0 at USC.

Hearing that JdR is being approached relentlessly. It’s his deal to make.
