This is USC basketball great Bill Sharman getting his shoe print embedded in cement, supposedly along with other Trojan athletes. I don’t know where the footprints were located or if they exist today (perhaps someone reading this knows). It looks to be sometime around 1950, when Sharman graduated from USC. If anyone deserved this honor, Sharman certainly did. He is in the Basketball Hall of Fame as a player and coach. For more of his accomplishments, click here.
It’s in front of the old Norm Meager/Silverwood’s store that was on campus on Child’s Way, just south of Jefferson.
outstanding pull. of course makes one wonder what they did with the footprints.
Hey Rod, I know you keep circulating this joke, or whatever it is, but I guess it is an inside “joke.”
What does it mean?
Thank you Michael. I kind of remember Silverwoods
Me, too. I think it went away after my freshman year (1972).
One of the basketball players and coaches one could wish to emulate…
He not only starred at USC but also for the perennial NBA champion Celtics as a player. Then after he retired he had great success as the head coach who led the bridesmaid LA Lakers to their first NBA championship. Then after he stepped down as coach he became the architect of the great Laker Showtime teams in the 1980s. Bill is one of the greatest Trojans of all time and deserving of a statue outside Galen Hall. Get with it, Pat.
Absolutely true..
His foot print is the only one…. there are no other southern cal “basketball” great!
Kind of like Beban.
